Ever struggle to find your right shade of lipstick? Yesterday on "Hoda and Jenna" Bobbie Thomas visited The Lip Lab (NY) where they will make you 2 bullets while you watch.

They have options for tube color/shape, lipstick's finish (sheer, full coverage, frost, etc.) and taste....

I'm intrigued. Would you have your perfect shade of lipstick made for you?

Yes,,,,sometimes dupes do not exist.

@phoenixbrd Many times, like Bobbie doing the story, I also adjust my lip liner to achieve a lighter or darker or brighter shade of lipsticks.

I'd love a personalized tube with my name printed on the bottom. I assume they keep your info on file for the next two tubes.

What I struggle with is deciding which right shade I want to wear every day!

Depends on the cost, but I think I would like more than one "made for me" shade. I like variety.

After searching for literally years and using up a good bit of my stash of that color, I found a company that matches the shade.....thanks to a poster on here.

I have been using the two tubes originally ordered and am very happy with it. Simple tube, shape. Matched the coverage. No taste which I prefer. Will reorder at the lower price now that they have done the first match.

Anyone can now order that color at the lower price since it is in their " library of colors. "

Thanks so much ! That does sound interesting .Years ago when I used Bobbie Brown they had given a lip color in a shaded called Naked Pink in a gift with prchase . I fell in love with it . Even my husband complimented how pretty it looked . Of course it was a limited shade . I live in Brooklyn and sent it to 3 Custom Colors to dupe the color . It was expensive at the time (early 2000's ) $60 for 2 tubes . I could not wait to get them . They were pretty , but when holding it side by side with the Bobbie Brown , they were no where near the color . You sparked my interest again . I would love it! I am cosmetically challenged. Never can figure out which is the right shade of anything for me. Of course, it doesn't help that I'm highly allergic to scents and ingredients. I have always had a bit of rosacea on my cheeks......some of the ladies I used to work with thought it I was wearing makeup when I wasn't wearing anything.

I would hope it would work. but even the pH lipsticks that are supposed to be a perfect color just for me, are always a tad not right. Sounds intriguing though!

@Shanus , i watched that segment and wasn't quite sure. Would you send in your beloved lipstick to have them dupe it for you? I know Bobby had them make shades for Hoda and Jenna too. I wasn't sure if Bobby had brought in lipsticks or not. I know she showed a picture of Jenna from her wedding for one, but that seems to be really iffy to me since lighting can change how the shade appears. She said Hoda was scraping the last out of her tube, but did she get her hands on that tube or did they use a picture.

I know that's getting down in the weeds, but that's the sort of thing that drive me crazy. You would think that if you brought in your actual favorite lipstick, a computer could spit out a match much like taking a swatch to the big box store to get a match in paint. Of course, much like me, Bobby layers her lip products to get her perfect shade, so that would make it more difficult. And I change what I layer it with depending on what I'm wearing. So, I would probably just go for an exact dupe of what I currently have that has been discontinued and continue to layer my lip products.

I've done it!! Twice, haha. It used to be called Bite Beauty Lip Lab, but the company downsized and now just run the lip lab.

I created one lip shade each visit, and paid about $50ish for each. Their website says it is now $65 each, which I still think would be worth it.

I get more complements on my custom shades than any others I own, by far. I should say I have art training and am well versed in color theory. As long as you know what you want and have an understanding of tone, it is worth it if you're in NYC. And it's fun! The associates may not be the most experienced so keep that in mind

I would love it. I can never find the right color. It is too dark, too light, too pink, too brown, too orange....I just bought a color from Bare Minerals but it is too purply.

@Icegoddess They never mentioned mailing in your lipstick to copy. It seems you have to fly to NY and go to that store. That's a VERY expensive lippie!!!

You'd think as an artist, I'd know color theory and get my shade in a store perfectly. The issue is you can swipe it anywhere on your body and the closest is between your thumb and forefinger....go figure.... BUT it never looks the same on your lips.

Everyone's lips have a different undertone and can be darker, lighter pale w/o color or have enough color that it effects the shade of the lipstick.

Eyeshadow is clearly the color you see in the palette since most women use a primer to block out discoloration and begin with a blank canvas. I've started using concealer on my lips to get the same canvas.

I try to purchase lipsticks at Nordstrom or any store that has a good return policy. When I get home where I can actually try of the expensive lipstick and see the actual color on my lips, if not correct, it can be returned.

@Icegoddess I have a MUA meeting/conference in NY in the fall and may just make an appt. and stop in and get my lipstick matched to me.

In my makeup drawer, I bet I have at least 25 pink/beige lipsticks and only one or two are close to what I love. My Clinique favorite every day one has been discontinued.

@Shanus I think store lighting makes a difference too. A lot of times in the store I don't see that a color has a bit of orange in it, but see it immediately when I get home.

@Icegoddess After swatching up and down my arm...I head outside to see the shade in natural sunlight. Still not 100% accurate.
