SurferWife, I have mixed reviews so not sure how helpful this will be...I have long, curly hair prone to frizz. When I used to straighten it (and lived in a non-humid state), I found that silk cases helped keep frizz at bay. I now live on the east coast and wear my curls naturally, and I find that they don't help as much...can't fight mother nature, I suppose. Also, kind of counter-intuitive but for me they hold heat and by morning they can be too warm. (When I switch to my all cotton cases, I'm never too hot.) So, I guess they might help you...give it a try! Good luck.

@SurferWife I've used a satin/poly/silk (whatever) pillowcase for many years. I purchase the cheap ones at Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Ulta. They're hanging on hooks with the makeup items.

I ordered one from Lily Silk and the handwashing and price was crazy. So, I went back to my others since I change them out every other night.

IMHO, yes they do help my curly hair not get tangled up and my skin does slide across them preventing more wrinkling than cotton.

If they slide off the bed or you feel hot, there's a period of adjustment....maybe a week for me. Everyone I've suggested them to has gotten used to the "satin" cases and loves them. I even keep two cases in my small carry on for travel so I don't forget them. I find it difficult to sleep on cotton now.

Although my hair is curly, it's not quite shoulder length and sleeping with it on top of my head, as many suggest, it's barely long enough and in the morning, all my curls have straightened out.

Hair: since silky scrunchies are suggested now to keep hair from frizz and breakage, the same principle must apply to pillowcases, right?

I have slept on a silk/satin pillowcase all of my life. My mom did the same. I don't have curly hair however my hair is chemically relaxed and turning grey. I have my own natural highlights! I also sleep in a satin wrap to keep my hair cut in place. I also keep one in my suitcase so I can have it when I travel. I think it helps to keep my hair from drying out. I would try one and see how it works for you. My stylist started selling the pillowcases, bonnets and scarfs to use at night in her salon. She can't keep them in stock! Hope this helps!

I purchased a 19MM pure mulberry silk pillowcase a few years ago and do feel like they help with avoiding those indented lines I used to wake up with on my face when using a cotton pillowcase. I also like the way they feel. You can find plenty of good deals online, especially on A.

Whichever one you get be sure it has one side that isn't slippery so that your pillow stays put under your head.

Look for 'one-sided silk pillowcase'. Should save you some money as well since the silk is on one side only.

I tried and tried using silky pillowcases but they always slipped away, usually falling off the bed. I can't say they kept my hair from frizzing, never noticed a difference. However, they were cool. If you got warm where your head was you could move to the other side of the pillow and it was cool, IF you still had it on your bed.

Aloha, I have 6 silk pillowcases in pink, gray, blue. Love. Brand is Symphony Home. Limited supply on Amazon, but I bought mine on Shop LC. One side is Tencel so they don't slip around.

They keep my shoulder length fine hair from tangling and have argan oil and hyaluronic in them so face doesn't dry out.

Honestly can't recommend these more highly.

Seannie

I purchased one in mint green and another in pink after loving my 1st pure silk 25mm weight pillowcase. Mine has a zipper on it and fits my contour pillows perfectly. I want it to be very smooth so IF I sleep on my side I don't get those pillowcase lines from a loose fitting case. Plus having very sensitive skin (rosacea) I find cotton cases to feel like sand paper.

Now with that said I do own 100% rayon made from bamboo sheets and the pillowcases on those sets are just as awesome. But they don't have a zipper on them.

I have very frizzy curly hair and I find both of these natural fabrics to be the best for sure. And they never make me sweat or over heat.

Forgot to mention my pillow never slides off the bed...ever so no issues with that BUT maybe that's due to using memory foam contour pillows? Perhaps other styles this would be a issue I don't know.

Brand I purchased from A is

Celestial Silk 100% Silk Pillowcase for Hair Zippered Luxury 25 Momme Mulberry Silk Charmeuse Silk on Both Sides of Cover -Gift Wrapped- (Standard, Mint Green)

Also I never hand wash them....they go in with my sheets and I use a tiny amount of fabric softener....dry for about 5mins in dryer and hang up to finish drying for about 1hr. Very easy care and well worth it.

I use one most of the time. It keeps my hair smooth and I feel it keeps my hair from falling out. Well it a Satin case. I have the one that has a non slippery side on the other side.

Mine is Copper infused. Does it help? I think so. I've slept on one for years, but I have few wrinkles (result of losing 12 lbs) at 85+!
