Ulta discontinuing Josie Maran

I just found out that Ulta will be discontinuing selling Josie Maran products. I’ve been noticing online they don’t have stock and I reached out to the company and they emailed me back saying her brand is being discontinued from Ulta (I think she only started there in January 2022). Hmm I really am wondering because it seems like her company changing especially with Lucienne leaving, new rep etc.

Maybe she will only be selling from her website and QVC. Laura Geller seems successful doing this

I believe Sephora carries her line and has for years.

I am a bit concerned about all the conversations about the body butter contents, Lucienne leaving, and now Ulta discontinuing her brand. I don’t know if something major is happening or it’s all coincidental. 🤔

I wonder that myself? Just placed an order though I have concerns about comfrey.
The bottle of argon oil light is a favorite of mine.

Good for Ulta! After years of use, believing Josie's "all natural " selling mantra I am done. All natural doesn't mean all safe and to learn that her body butter contains Comfrey leaf made my decision easy. It took me about 3 minutes to research comfrey leaf so I'd think someone in the business would research the ingredients thoroughly before putting them in her products. Guess not.

I've used her body butter and really liked it. Had no idea that comfrey leaf was an unsafe ingredient.

Wonder why she would have allowed that? Glad I read something about it here.

I can't believe the hullabaloo here regarding comfrey. According to the NIH it does not absorb through skin. It should not be a concern with JM butter unless you plan on eating the stuff.

The ironic thing is though with comfrey people asking why are people concerned it doesn’t get absorbed through the skin, but yet whenever Josie is on air, she says your skin is your body’s largest organ and what goes on goes in and you absorb everything you put on your skin so use my clean beauty- so I just think it’s funny how they preach that, but yet when people call out an ingredient, they say it doesn’t get absorbed ;-)!! I don’t care that comfrey is in it but it is hypocritical on her company’s part!

Because it does not get absorbed. Sillieeme has posted links to scientific info about this.

Comfrey is not the only plant which contains the toxin. It can be found as a contaminant in some supps, herbal preps and even some teas.

There's nothing going on with Josie's company. One store dropping the line and one rep leaving are normal business occurrences. She's still at Sephora, Amazon, Derm Store, her website, Amazon, QVC etc.

As far as the ingredient issue, I'd trust @SilleeMee before anything else I read anywhere.

It does look like to me Sephora will soon get rid of her , i noticed a very small assortment , much less than before and no new items , i was going to mention this when i noticed she was gone from ULTA. They don't carry Lancer, Philosophy anymore. I wonder if QVC cheapens the prestige brands ?

It's all about making money. Shoppers are paying attention again to prices, and living on a realistic budget, they are no longer willing to pay higher prices. Today's post pandemic shoppers compare prices, and look for free shipping that many retailers offer. You can knock Walmart.com all you want, but you can find many of the same products that QVC sells at better prices. The choice is yours.
