@Imaoldhippie , thank you for this reminder. I only buy cruelty free cosmetics/skincare.

The testing isn't necessary nor do the poor animals need to go through the horrific testing.

The line between cruelty free and not cruelty free is blurred. It's not as clear cut as it might appear. Here's what the FDA says about the labelling:

"Cruelty Free"/"Not Tested on Animals"

"Consumers sometimes ask about use of claims such as "Cruelty-Free" or "Not Tested on Animals" on cosmetic labeling.

Some cosmetic companies promote their products with claims of this kind in their labeling or advertising. The unrestricted use of these phrases by cosmetic companies is possible because there are no legal definitions for these terms.

Some companies may apply such claims solely to their finished cosmetic products. However, these companies may rely on raw material suppliers or contract laboratories to perform any animal testing necessary to substantiate product or ingredient safety. Other cosmetic companies may rely on combinations of scientific literature, non-animal testing, raw material safety testing, or controlled human-use testing to substantiate their product safety.

Many raw materials, used in cosmetics, were tested on animals years ago when they were first introduced. A cosmetic manufacturer might only use those raw materials and base their "cruelty-free" claims on the fact that the materials or products are not "currently" tested on animals."

@SilleeMee @sunshine45 .............Thank you for the information from their website. I am happy to know that they have become cruelty free. The last time I googled them the information I found said they were not. It must be outdated.

Thanks again, I always liked their products especially their lipsticks they have the best colors so now I can go back to buying their lipstick.

Correct.I avoid them like the plague.There are many drugstore brands that aren't testing on innocent animals including Cover girl, Milani,Hard Candy, Makeup Revolution and elf.

L’Oreal Paris allows its products or ingredients to be tested on animals when required by law including when selling in stores in mainland China.

In addition, L’Oreal Paris is a subsidiary of L’Oreal Group, a parent company that is NOT cruelty-free.

Read the following sentence:

"An exception could be made if authorities required it for human safety or regulatory purposes." In order words, they allow animal testing of their finished products in China, where the practice is required by law.
