Distracting Nail Polish

We've had several discussions about this recently so I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Vanessa Herring's nails for her jewelry show early this morning.

They looked like daggers, they were so long and were painted the color of turquoise stones with matrix added for realism. Never saw anything like it. They were the ultimate in distracting. They were so long, when she picked up a ring to show it the nails hid the ring and you couldn't even see it. I could not name one piece of jewelry she showed, I just saw fingernails.

I imagine she was trying to fit in with today's theme but what was she thinking?

Is this not a sight to behold?

I like a lot of the nail colors the hosts wear. However, when they are on air I feel a very neutral color is best. It's not a good sales tactic if your eyes keep looking at the nails and not the item.

I have noticed her nails and no I'm not a fan of these kind of nails on any host.....

In all fairness, Vanessa did a really good presentation but she overdid the hair and nails. They probably told the hosts to look their best and that was her interpretation.

I did not see Vanessa this morning but saw her on Facebook after your post. I thought she looked pretty and did a good job hosting.

I remember when QVC would only allow beautiful classy nails and colors the likes of Kathy Levine many years ago.

I like Vanessa but I do find her nails totally inappropriate for her job. And I am one that has long , nails but not like hers.

Some of the JTV hosts have nails that are way too long but always polished in a pale non distracting shade.

Kathy Levine wore long painted nails as a QVC host. If someone does not find Vanessa's beautiful that is on them. If someone is distracted by a host nails that too is on them.

@Foxxee I remember Kathy saying she'd be getting a memo when she wore red nails at Christmas.

@Kachina624 When I viewed your post, the movie EDWARD SCISSORHANDS immediately came to my mind. I also hate to go to check out at the grocery store and the checker can't pick up items or pull money from the register.

By the time she got to the last item, an elaborate blue topaz ring, she put it on her finger but curled her nails under in a fist. I wonder if she realized they were distracting or if the producer told her to do it.

Some channels have hand models with long thin fingers. I don't like these long nails on anyone . Nails carry all kinds of bacteria and even fungus if the person does not use a finger nail brush every day and every time they use the rest room or eat . Research exists . She does not have " hand model " hands , neither do many of the QVC Hosts so that's why they have models wearing the jewels . However QVC insists on the Hosts with stubby hands modeling the jewelry

It may be on me if the host's nails distract me, but I'm not the one losing a sale. The Q is.

And if I was in charge, there would only be neutral colors. No long daggers. They can do what they want off the clock, but on the clock, no distractions.

I was so distracted by the nails, I couldn't concentrate on the gardening tool being offered.

Those nails would not last one nanosecond in the garden!

Nope, not for me. She can do what she wants on her own time, but when presenting items that require closeups less is more.

@Iwantcoffee I vehemently disagree. Kathy always wore soft pink and neutrals as was the rule in the old days.

It's the host's respsonability to show off the product to it's best advantage so people will see it and buy. This isn't possible when nail polish is so wild, it's all they see. It's on the Host to see this doesn't happen, not the viewer.

I remember stopping watching Antonella's jewelry shows because of her distracting nails. As bad as they were, they were nothing compared to those shown on this post! (I've never seen Vanessa, so I've never noticed her nails.)

@PA Mom-mom They'd be really cute at a rock hound convention, not so much for a TV shopping host. I wonder how she gets anything done at home?
