Does anyone know the shelf life of Josie's whipped body cream if unopened?

It's 2 years. But like medications, sometimes-- SOMETIMES the expiration date is just how long they tested it for. After two years they were like that's it. LOL

If the color, smell and consistency are good, then I might test it to see it it's ok.

But if you have skin problems-- don't risk it.

@Bonzomom @justashopper Unless I had fairly serious sensitivity, I'd use any external product for months after its expiration date - assuming I hadn't opened it for a few months before that date. The whipped products I have used (many brands) come in about 14 ounce jars and take me months to use up. I've never had a problem with any, and if some were less effective than when really fresh, the difference has been too little for me to notice.

@Bonzomom I had purchased a ton of JM years ago. I found I just don't like it. It's hard to explain but besides the greasy feeling my skin feels "heavy" after using. It just feels like I have a layer of lotion on my skin, not in a good way. So, I have a bunch of JM body butter in my closet. Every once in awhile, if I don't plan on sitting on furniture (maybe spending the day at the beach or by the pool) I will put it on. I have noticed some of the older bottles just smell kind of rancid. I never looked at the expiration dates though, I just tossed them.

I would agree with the other poster who said if it is for external use, it smells fine and the efficacy remains the same, by all means use it.

I keep all of my JM and all body butters in the fridge. Even unopened ones are given the cold treatment.

I have found jars I'd misplaced for at least two years and they were absolutely fine. As long as they don't smell rancid, or have started to separate, I would use them. I can't imagine there is any risk - you're not going to get sick from a body lotion or cream.

@cjm61 - Have you thought about donating the supply in your closet? From what you said, you probably won't be able to use them up before they all go rancid. Maybe a women's shelter?

I have tubs I've had for at least a couple years. Usually order when there is a good offer price wise. I've tried several other brands and keep coming back to JM...seems to work best for my skin.

@San Antonio Gal Great idea. I did donate a bunch of other products I never used or received free and never tried. I would need to double check the expiration date since I purchased most of the JM over two years ago. I don't think I'd want to donate expired items.
