COLD MORNING HOME: ANY MAKEUP/SKINCARE QUESTIONS?

My schedule is free this morning for any questions.

BTW, my skincare products are changing as they are being tested. DRMTLGY is at the top of the list w/ their Needle-less Serum and SPFs (tinted and not tinted), also their Neck Cream is helping the texture.

Kiehl's is replacing a lot of Skinceuticals and Kiehl's Oil Cleanser (lavender scent) and the related overnight oil are doing great things for my winter dry skin.

What products are changing in your makeup/skincare routine?

Hi,

I've always thought (and it's just thinking because they are out of my price range) that the cosmetic companies are just that-cosmetics. The real skin care as close as we can come to prescription, is probably Skinceuticals. I just think nothing on the market is strong enough and they're ripping us off every day. It's just what I think but we do the best we can, right? So, were you on Skinceuticals for a long time or just trying it? Did it do anything for you that other skin care didn't?

@Judaline I usd Skinceuticals for almost 10 yrs. It was recommended by my derm. I used the almost the entire line from day andnight moisturizers, their spf and the Vit.C.

The moisturizers seemed not hydrating enough as I got older. The derm recommended Skinceuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 which I've incorporated with my other skincare.

The Kiehl's I'm using seems to be just as moisturizing and as effective as what I was using. The same with DRMTLGY. It's amatter of shopping around and giving each product at least 6 weeks before making a decision.

I have realized that one line will not have every product you need.

@Shanus , can powder eye shadow stain ones eye lids? I didn't always use a primer, so my lids up to the crease are brown and primer doesn't even cover it.Or is this just like circles under the eyes that are brown? How can I cover the discoloration? Sounds silly, I know.

Hi Shanus.....problem here. Yesterday I used an eyeshadow primer, and used IT Cosmetics eyeshadows, liner, mascara.... and about two hours later my eyeshadow looked almost transparent. The color had faded, and I swear it looked almost see-through. What am I doing wrong? How did those actresses get that deep Burr more saturated color on their eyes even if it's a lighter color shadow? Thanks!

@catter70 I've never had shadow stain the lids. It could be not getting all eye makeup off or as you said, your eyelids may just be darkening.

Mine have always had veining/redness that I need to cover with a neutral shadow stick before my shadow.

@Desertdi Hilarious answer, but it works. At the drugstore, look for *******le cream (like we used for nursing). Lol .It's gentle, does the job and not a balm, more of a creamy texture.

@Texasmouse Vaseline seems to work until I take it off, but doesn't "heal" the dry lips, IMHO.

@monicakm That's the cream I use during the day. I have a hugee jar,but if skin's very dry, I use the Skinceuticals Triple Lipid moisturizer.

At night, I will alternate Retin A with the Kiehl's cream in the purple jar which has a plant based "retin A", but more gentle on my skin this time of year.

I do try to give my acids a rest whenever possible.

@monicakm I've been experimenting with the one from DRMTLGY and one from The Ordinary....6-8 weeks each and so far I like them both. No need to spend $170!!!

@Shanus , I ordered JVN hair products...I took the quiz, and they suggested the volumizing shampoo, hydrating conditioner and leave in spray conditioner. So I ordered all 3. I think I saw you said you use their line and your hair is great?? I've never heard of them, so I looked it up and figured give them a try...im about ready for a new shampoo/conditioner. Just ordered yesterday, so im waiting to hear back on shipping.

@Dazlin I also use JVN and have been since the summer. I really like the hair styling products. I use the Instant Recovery Serum which is a heat protectant and I am about to replace that with the Blowout Styling Milk which is also a heat protectant. I use the Leave in conditioner. It really helps me revive my second day hair. I also use the Shine Drops which gives my hair a smooth shiny look. Now having said that I do have an issue with the shampoo and conditioner. I have used both the Volumizing and Hydrating lines but my hair tends to get very tangled after washing. I love the end result as my hair looks great but I am on the fence about the shampoo and conditioner.

@ninjawife , ohhhh, wonder why your hair feels tangled...hope that doesn't happen to me. Some products I've used need an after detangler, a leave in conditioner or serum. Today I used Pureology for blondes, both shampoo and conditioner, and I needed a little leave in detangler. I like Oribe very much, never need anything afterwards, but im switching brands because my scalp doesn't feel thoroughly clean. But it really makes my hair look great. Keratase is another really good product, but the conditioner makes me lose ALOT of hair...go figure. But wow on shine and looks.

I'll report back after I try the JVN.

@Dazlin Yes, LOVE my JVN!! My hair is wavy/curly, fine and now silver. Although JVN is not just for curly hair, it's what anyone should look for in hair products....no silicones, sulfates, hydration, packaging that is not wasteful (aluminum s&c containers and glass bottles for oils and scalp conditioner or aluminum tubes).

I've used it for over 6 months exclusively and my curls are springy and last until the next wash day.

***BTW, there are videos on the site about how to use each product. Johnathan Van Ess is also doing videos on Youtube.

@Shanus , I should be getting it by end of day Sunday...They're including 4 free samples and a silk pillow case 😀...im excited to try it. If I feel I want more shine I'll order the shine drops. Although my daughter is a beautician, she gets me tons of products...I really wouldn't need another thing...but I like to try something new. Glad you love it!

@Desertdi - I suggest Aquaphor Healing Ointment. Works great for lips. This is what I use. Don't get the one specifically for lips. This one is for:

Hands, Heels, Elbows, Lips. Good luck. Hope you get some relief.
