I think that vendors who come on to sell products which are supposed to get rid of wrinkles should have to tell us that they have fillers, Botox and or plastic surgery. I saw Dr Denese today and she looked incredible and we all know it’s not from the bottles she sells.

They also should quit exclaiming and wowing over "after" photos that show no difference than the "befores". We're not idiots, we can easily see the difference is imperceptible.

I've never heard any of the beauty vendors say that their products will give you the same or any of the results seen on their faces. It is common to have 'work done' as presenters in the beauty industry.

The ad industry calls it 'the power of association' where a customer sees something they want to buy and then they relate everything they see in the photo, commercial or ad of some kind to the thing they want to buy. In this case that would be a smooth and flawless face.

As the consumer reads more and realizes the hype, the vendors try harder to influence what we know to be not possible.

It has always been up to us to disbelieve what they claim and choose what works for us.

Then there are the occasional vendors that really aren't good advertisement for their products. The few that come to mind are the Prai lady, Peter Thomas Roth, and Skip from Perlier. Oh, and Amanda, she needs to stop with the lip fillers. She would be pretty otherwise.

There are others, but by now, we should all realize that something in a jar or bottle won't turn back the clock. OR at least not perform the miracles the vendors want us to believe.

I'd like to think that we "beauty aficionados" KNOW that no beauty product is going to turn the clock back. As for myself, I use skin care products as a preventative, to keep my skin looking as healthy as possible for my age. I don't think any skincare product is going to take 10 years off of my appearance. That's just silliness. BUT I do know that my skin looks good because I take care of it and as I've said before in this forum, I've been taking very well care of my skin since I was a teenager, which has helped me maintain healthy looking skin.

When vendors say a product will remove wrinkles I just giggle sarcastically AND keep using my skincare as a preventative.

@evelyner - Dr. Denese has talked many times on air about the surgery she's had. She's never tried to hide it.

I have been using Biossance products. During one of their lives they had a customer ask about a certain skin concern and wrinkles. I was shocked they were actually truthful with the customer saying creams and serums can only do so much and gave them options of some procedures to look into. Never seen a skincare company be that honest before.

I know what you mean. Some have said that they have had fillers, etc. I know we want to believe a certain product will really make a big difference with wrinkles, aging, etc. Usually, they don't.

Not to be Debbie downer, but I'm finding that after a certain age (70), the visible aging is speedily outpacing my product use. To the point where I'm about to just use moisturizer w sunscreen and an occasional exfoliant. And call it good. We are all going to look old when we're old.

I think it makes sense for the makers of beauty products to look as good as they can, because when we are shopping, who would buy a beauty product from someone with terrible skin? It does take away from their credibility. So I'm OK as long as they don't claim they got their great skin by using solely their products.

I haven't watched any presentations in a while, but generally, I don't recall vendors making such claims, except for the Dr Perricone rep, I think her name was Dana? I think she had cancer and I don't know if she is still around or making that claim, but she used to. But she was fairly young. My skin looked great when I was up to my 40s. It was at some point after that concerns started. I don't think I even used sunscreen before 40. My moisturizer was a jar of Nivea, which I did apply frequently, as my skin is dry. I started taking care of my skin in my 40s.

@San Antonio Gal Really? I saw her address the dramatic difference in her face maybe 8 yrs ago only after there was so much criticism (regarding the hypocrisy) on these boards. I've never heard her say anything since and I'm pretty sure she has had additional work done within the last couple of yrs. Of course, I don't see all her presentations.

I really don't think it is necessary for people to tell us what cosmetic procedures they have had unless they claim they got their results from their products.

I don't recall Dr Denese ever saying that she only relied on her products, and I watched her in the beginning. She has mostly offered a limited selection of products. I started with her pads and they were very good compared to other offerings available at the time. I was happy then, but eventually moved to something stronger. She was a pioneer and an educator. In fact she has been an advocate for all kinds of things in regular media. I am going to try her Neck & Chin Rx Tightening Roll-On Duo, even though I missed her presentations. The written claims are very limited, but I don't mind trying interesting new products.
