Request - "Color Tint" Identifying, pls

Hi @Beauties

Again, am requesting yr "Color ID" help.

I explained before, embarrassingly, "I'm Color Blind (spec,"Color Tints")

I'm looking for an inexpensive but good, regular Nail Polish (not Gel, nor Dip) that's 100% "translucent." (I want to put it over nail "glitter, & glitter flakes" on my "Special, offset, color'd ring fingernail" (at least))

The "cutsy name" colors esp baffle me.... like "stone" or "pebble: or "suede" "midnight" or "jello"

Wld you mind taking a look at the (below) "Wet n Wild" color called "X-Ray Vision"... and see if it's 100% "translucent? THX!!

Also, is there a 100% opaque BLACK, & 100% opaque WHITE on that webpage? What are their names, pls

And is "Southern Belle" a true "nude" color?

(BTW...These are one of many beautiful Wet n'Wild colors on that webpage.) With hunting, I've found many, many regular nail polish colors/kits on Amz (& of course plenty of gorgeous gels/dips)

I'm waiting to receive that color "Out Of Pistachios" nail color, altho the name sounds more "green." Hopefully, its a "perfect" "aqua, light turquoise" ..<--- the color of which I'm obsessed with. "Aqua" is the color of my bedroom, bathroom (Beach Theme) & kitchen. heh yup.... "obsessed")

(I probably shld have asked y'all to ID this "Out Of Pistachios" as "Aqua" first, before I ordered. It's to be delivered soon)

Are you sure you want Translucent and not Clear?

Translucent: permitting light to pass through but diffusing it so that persons, objects, etc., on the opposite side are not clearly visible:Frosted window glass is translucent but not transparent.

I looked at a video of southern belle. It is an opaque creamsicle color. A sort of light pastel orange color.

@Janey2 Oh wow. Go figure.

That's no where near what my "color tint blind" eyes saw, or wanted.

I didn't see or want any hint of orange & have somewhat similar already.

@Icegoddess   oh wow! I didnt know there was a difference, but certainly sounds like there is! I'm not even sure I've used an "uncolored" translucent.
   I think I might have used a colored polish that was called some "x-color translucent." But non color

Is the above pic "Clear" or "Translucent?" I'm suspecting "Clear" then?

And do you have any suggestions for a good "Translucent" non-color nail polish?    I think I might not have "Translucent" but sounds wonderful to play with!.

'Clear' means the same thing as 'transparent'. @JoyFilled Warrior

'Sheer' means the same thing as 'translucent'.

The pic you posted is clear and colorless (no tint) polish.

oh wow! Not only did you answer my question, & futher read my mind & answer, ... but you answered questions I didnt even think to ask, .. ALL of which would have made a difference in my choices!! .... & desired effects!
With "Shade" Color Blindness, they all looked the same. I just thought various company's used different names for the same "see thru" polishes.

You should see how I spill "water" all the time!!
"Color (Shade) Blindness," cant see the depth, or height of the water in the bowl, glass, or any container, (No matter what color bowl/glass/container it is!)
...   Or for that matter, whether there's even *any water in the bowl in any case!*

I have to keep the mop, and Bounty towels handy! . for all these frequent water spills

I would say if it has a satin or sheen finish it would be translucent, not clear. Satin and sheen is more about how the light bounces off the surface whereas transparency is about how light travels through it.

I'll have to "nail polish experiment" now, for what, (& if), I can perceive are the r/l effects other than just plain ole, "Clear/transparent'

I'm thinking now, maybe, translucent might have a nicer effect over "fine/chunky" glitter. But as I've been "nail" "shopping," i didnt know a difference.

Perfect example of:

Looks like you've already gotten some great responses!

Yes, "X-Ray Vision" is a clear, multi-purpose polish.

I would say "Out of Pistachios" is in the aqua/turquoise range, but definitely leaning green.

Southern Belle looks like a yellow-leaning peach. Tt looks a bit too orange/yellow for me to consider it nude. But "nude" is very subjective, depending on one's skin color.

It should be possible to find an opaque blace polish with a good formula.White is a bit trickier. Most will take more than one coat. And many (even) most formulas are a bit difficult to work with.

I'm useless at recommending cheaper polishes. Not because there aren't excellent ones out there. I just had to narrow the purchase field down. I haven't bought a drugstore/mainstream polish in years; and only a very few boutique/private label.

I buy all my polishes online. Honestly, one of the most difficult things was learning to interpret the color and special ingredients I was seeing on my screen. Some colors are very trick to phograph. Every screen shows colors a bit differently. Plus, even tho doing there best to show colors accurately, those providing the images are also trying to emphasize the special characteristics of the polish. This can require the use of special lighting. Polishes can look totally different depending on lighting.

I would definitely try the "X-Ray" and see if it does what you want it to. Depending on how chunky the glitter is, you may need two or more coats. If you find it's not working for you, there are special top coats for that purpose. I'm not sure if they've made it to mainstream world, but us indie polish lovers have had them available for years. I would say that most of us top our nails with a layer of regular, quick-dry top coat once we have the glitter smoothed out.

@JoyFilled Warrior You might want to experiment with a "matte" top coat. Again I think it's fairly standard to apply a layer of regular top coat first. Supposedly helps with the wear.

Quick lesson, BASE COAT is formulated to adhere to the nail and provide a surface tor the polish to adhere to. Some are formulated to be "sticky." They can also be formulated to help prevent staining, to smooth out nails with ridges and/or to "blur" the smile line for those of us with opaque/white nail tips (helps to minimize the nail line when wearing less opaque polishes).

TOP COAT is formulated to adhere to polish and protect it, helping the mani last longer. Many/most also have an ingredient to help protect the polish from fading/changing color due to light exposure. There are fast drying and quick drying variations. They also come in matte, glitter grabbers (to smooth out "hungry" glitters), ones containing fine (often holo) glitters, etc. There's even one formulted to use over magnetic polishes. Some work best with a layer of regular top coat either under them or over them.

Polishes with multiple functions are likely to work just fine for most people. I just have enough dedicated polishes that I've had no reason to experiment.
