Do You Leave Reviews

I try to review the products I buy whether I like them or not. I like doing it-- because well, because I am nerd. LOL

What about you? Do you? What motivates you leave one? Do you only leave the extreme reactions (Love it/hate it)

@justashopper yes, I tend to leave reviews only if I feel strongly about the product, good or bad. If it's a "meh" for me, I don't bother.

I leave reviews if I really like or hate the product. If the product doesn't work (like an appliance or electric blanket, etc), I will leave a review. If the product exceeds my expectations, I will definitely leave a review. If I have no feelings one way or another, then I don't.

Some companies will enter you into a contest just for submitting a review. I try to enter those when I can, whether I care anything for the product or not.

I usually leave reviews except I don't for my Q purchases. The reason is b/c my forum name is posted on my Q purchases and I'd rather keep my purchases totally private. I wonder if anyone else feels the same way about Q reviews and how they are connected to this forum with our forum nicks.

Yes, for everything...good, bad and indifferent, because I think they help vendors determine if the items need improvements or not. They let them know what customers like and don't like. They also tell QVC buyers an item might be a good reorder.

I don't know if all vendors read them, but I know Gary and Valerie refer to review comments from time to time.

Hosts sometimes refer to the number of 5 star reviews for the item they are presenting, so reviews look like they help sell an item on air.

At times, I wonder why I leave them. Some readers are ungrateful for the time it takes us to write them. They expect us to be mind readers, to know and answer all their questions, then they leave an unhelpful check. Granted, some reviews are unhelpful, but I just pass over and go on to the next one. But, those I am talking about who leave unhelpful checks are overly critical.

I leave reviews when I absolutely love something or when I think there's an aspect of the product that others would find helpful (in my review). I rely on product reviews no matter where I buy my product but I have to say-- it drives me crazy when people leave (what I consider to be) an unhelpful, negative review that is based simply on something that has nothing to do with the product's performance or the product itself. I have seen numerous 1 or 2 star reviews from reviewers that give the item less stars because it didn't come in a color they wanted, or because the UPS guy threw the package on their doorstep, or other aspects that have nothing to do with the product. I wish that people would stick to reviewing THE PRODUCT and not the "experience". OK, off my soapbox now

Not any more. I am too odd in what I like, I could spend all day doing it, and I don't want the generated spam anyway. I don't think my views are that valuable on most things.

@justashopper - I try to post reviews in order to help another person that is considering making a purchase.

@SilleeMee - It doesn't bother me if anyone sees my purchases in a review since the name is the same as here on the forum. I oftentimes discuss brands I like so there's no secret that I purchase Wen, Isaac, IT, etc.

@justashopper Me too, I write dozens of them. I just think it may help another person make a buying decision. I try to write one on every item I purchase.

I leave a review if I love something and why I think its a great item. If I don't like something I try to indicate why I don't like it...for example if sizing is inconsistent with that vendor or if the material is rough. For example there is a Zuda jacket that had stiff stitching on the inside arm seams. If you're wearing sleeveless it would/could be irritating. Or if zipper is wonky, etc. I do read reviews to see if someone mentions an issue I find important.

Years ago I did get called out by another poster because of a review I had left on a clothing item. Good gravy I can still remember the pile on because I had written a review that was not 5 stars. The shame, lol, the shame of not loving every thing a vendor makes.

Yes, I write reviews if I think I have something important to say about the product performance (skin care & make-up), wearability & care (fashion). I don't include comments related to shipping, how long it took to get it, blah, blah, blah. I try to write a review for most everything I buy, but if I can't find the right words...forget it. I'm not going to force myself to write of a review if I can't think of anything important to say about the product. However, if I happen to be on my second glass of wine...LOOK OUT! (Just kidding!)

I do. I think it is helpful for those who want to purchase the item. I do not complain about shipping or wish it was this or that. I know what I order and what is available.

I stick with sizing and material and that sort of thing.

I try to review most of the products I buy. I focus only on the item and what I like or dislike about the item and not shipping or delivery problems.

It's funny you ask, I was just today telling myself as a New Year's resolution I need to leave reviews. I rely heavily on them yet I rarely leave them. On my own behalf, most everything I buy is at a deep discount so by the time I have tried the item it's either sold out or has too many reviews already that I feel mine will not help and will not get read.

I have absolutely no worries that other's see my purchases. And, do people really take the time to look at all your reviews and care that much? I do wish the Q would change their policy and evaluate more reviews and remove the ones that are not pertinent, complaining about shipping, cost is too high, they did not receive the item, or obviously didn't purchase it.

@cjm61 - Agree with everything you stated. I don't care who sees what I purchase and I can't imagine anyone caring about it either.

When reading reviews, I ignore the ones complaining about shipping, cost, etc. The ones I hate the most are the people reviewing an item they don't have.

Me either!! I leave reviews on QVC only. Well wait, sometimes Nordstrom.

And I hear ya on the checking my user name against my purchases. If someone does that, please know you have too much time on your hands. LOL
