EYESHADOW STICKS, ANY FAVORITES?? Pro/cons

I'm looking into trying an eyeshadow stick...I've never used them before. I've searched a few, and see ingredients may play an important part. Bobby Brown, or Laura Mercia seem to have more emollients...is that important, or will any shadow stick do just as good??

I'm basically only wanting a pink for the lid area...so I wouldn't want anything dry, or that tugs. I'm not using this for a liner, more of an shadow only. Any suggestions?? They're pricey...is it worth it for such a tiny area??

@Dazlin - there are many good options! I LOVE shadow sticks, but I also love/use shadow palettes.

I find the shadow sticks offer such ease of use and are travel friendly. Always have several in my small handbag makeup pouch

Based on my experience, I recommend Mercier, Mally and IT shadow sticks. Look for event kits/offers

This IT item/duo is one of my favorites. It's the perfect base set for lid and banana/liner application. There are several color options. This one works well for me. I have it on A/D and you can't beat the price...$20!

@Dazlin Have you tried Clinique chubby sticks? I really like them. The colors are subtle and stay in place. Not dry and no tugging. My favorites are lavish lilac....and lots of Latte. They do have a pink...Pink & Plenty. They are a very sheer eyeshadow. You might want to check the color chart at Macys or Boscovs. They are about $20...but they last a very long time.

The only shadow sticks I have are Mally from QVC. I am wearing one today. I don't see much offered now at QVC, maybe close to the holidays there will be a set.

Nordstrom does have this Mally Evercolor eyestick trio and also singe colors

I use the ones by Laura Geller. They stay put! You can use them as eyeliner as well.

@Dazlin I love my shadow sticks. I barely touch my palettes anymore. For travel, they are so easy. My favorites are Mally, Nudestix ( these do need to be sharpened), Bobbi Brown, and Laura Mercier. The set that @Chi-town girl posted about looks so pretty, I have not tried It Shadowsticks yet, going to go check out that set now!

@kathie66 ...what kind of sharpener ...a regular eye pencil sharpener?? I have the stainless steel type with 2 sizes for thin or thick pencils.

I have had good luck with ELF shadow sticks, as well as Bobbie Brown, Clinique and the IT sticks. The shadows go on easily , can build up color and I have not had issues with creasing. I do use a color corrector eye primer, but it's probably not needed.

The ELF items are very inexpensive to try. As an aside, you can also place powder eye shadow on top of the creamier shadow sticks.

@Dazlin I have used them from Mally (not recently though) and Thrive cosmetics. They have a nice light pink eye shadow stick that is an eye brightener.

@Dazlin The Nudestix are the only ones that I mentioned that need sharpening. In both sets of Nudestix that I have bought the sharpener was included. I think they would also fit in a thicker size regular sharpener. The other brands twist up with no need for sharpening. Hope this helps!

I wasn't a fan of Mally's. Don't know if it was the shades or the shimmer effect, though I haven't tried the mattes. I do like the Make Up Forever at Sephora. Color last, lots of shades and what they call shimmer is very subdued. They have the perfect shade of a khaki green that I love.

Bobby Brown, Malted Pink looks pretty nice.

@Dazlin I did a little snooping...and it appears that most of the department stores don't currently have it. I do see that Walmart.com has it though. I wouldn't have normally looked there but I was ordering something else and decided to check to see if they carry Clinique...apparently they have it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Dazlin I love shadow sticks. They're creamy and most are waterproof. LM sometimes have a mini set and BB, too.

There are more pink shades in the LM line, but you're correct more expensive. You only need a bit and I find it's easier to use them by applying them directly to lid...skip the brush since it wastes product. Do one eye at a time since they dry quickly and blend with fingers.

They can also be used as a lid primer for a powder shadow.

Laura Mercier's Rose Gold is a beautiful shade of pink w/ a bit of shimmer. Her Blossom is a pink matte. Bobbi Brown's pinks are Pink Sparkle (cool) and a warm pink is Pink Sparkle. BB matte shades are Malted Pink (a bit darker pink neutral) and Shell, a lighter neutral pink.

IMO, Mally's sticks have a lot of shimmer...too much for my taste.
