OMG, I just Realized Kathy Lee Gifford

is only 5 years only than me. I thought she was somewhere in her 70's. That makes me feel old. She has really nice skin, better than mine (no lines), but I saw an interview with her the other day where she joked about how much she paid for it, so she has at least had some procedures done if not plastic surgery. However, plastic surgery doesn't give you plump skin. Her neck on the other hand looks like a 90 year old's.

She's now doing commercials for Balance of Nature (the freeze dried fruit & veggie supplements). She's also been writing a bunch of books and directed a movie that is coming out for one day only called The Way, I think.

Really miss the old Kathy Lee and Regis show at 9am. Sadly once she left and Regis retired the show became unwatchable.

Everything on her is store bought.....so much plastic surgery...and for some reason, it appears that anyone that gets so much plastic surgery always has a horrible looking neck which really tells and shows their age, apparently there is no surgery for the neck....LOL all of this is my opinion.

When I look at people my age, many of them look a lot older than me. I don't know if that's b/c I look young for my age or if it's b/c they look old for their age. Probably a combination of both.

There is such a thing as neck rejuvention which is done by a plastic surgeon.

I've never been very good at estimating someone's age, so the "Looks good for her age" thing ...

For her age? Seriously?

Just me, but I always thought that seemed more like an insult than a compliment.

How about just plain ... "Gee, you look great .... " and leave it at that?

To tell you the truth, I don't know why I thought she was so much older. Maybe because of her husband who was considerably older. I've never been one to be able to guess someone's age either. And sometimes people just come across as older. I used to skate with a lady like that. Even my coach said the same thing.

She and I are the same age. As of a few years ago she admitted to not having any work done. But she does have fantastic skin.

@Icegoddess I saw her,too. The neck issue happens when you keep getting fillers and Botox in your face and nothing like that can be injected in the neck to make up for the loss of volume. It looked strange to me to have a 50 yr.old face with an 80 yr.old neck. That's when you stop the face injections because face and neck should match in age.

I think she looks older on the commercial than on that morning show. I think she's cute, whatever she's done.

I once heard that in the future we are going to see a lot of old ladies with big, perky boobs walking down the street, given today's augmenting options, lol.

@Shanus Yes, 5 yrs. can make a lot of difference. All my life I have been told I looked young for my age. While I didn't like being guessed at 15 when I was 19...I have vainly liked it all the rest of the years!

Now, at 72, I am getting the dreaded "turkey gobbler" neck. A dead give-a-way! I'm not getting told so much these days how young I look or should I say "looked". Last week my dear husband told me I didn't look a day over 62! Was it true...I don't know...but I think I'll take him at his word!

Kathie Lee looks great but her neck is a lot different from her face. I just read an article about her before I saw this post.

Lecture coming: Ladies, please stop obsessing over wrinkles, lack of firmness and necks...purchasing all creams with false promises and claims.

At 74, I'm geting older w/ wrinkles and my neck is beginning to sag, too. Most of us are healthy, vibrant women. Looks are not as important as feeling well and acceptance of age. As is said, what's the alternative?

I have friends younger and older and all look differently. Some of it is genetics, being in the sun and skincare or lack of it.

Unless you're willing to pay thousands for peels and injections or tens of thosands for surgery, accept what we have and move on to the more important things in life.

@happilyretiredgirl Full face sugery includes the neck. You can also just have lower face surgery which is just neck and jowls.

Well said, Shanus. Certain you tube influencers don't help. Many just want people to buy without questioning if it would work for them. Of course, there are influencers who give good advice. One just needs to determine between the ones who want followers and those who actually are trying to help make good choices.

There is no such thing as anti-aging. No product can turn back time. However, one can enhance the looks one already has and learn to work with that. Just realize that a woman can look good yet doesn't necessarily have to look younger.

@teganslaw Between YT, Tik Tok and a youth driven society, it's so easy to get caught up on what's on the outside and feel dissatified.

Most YTers are not 60-70 or even 80. Choose who you watch carefully and even then research before purchasing. There's always hard sell and recommendations, but are they right for you? A wonder cream? Better than what you're using?

@Shanus this is the attitude we should all have of ourselves at this point in our lives. I look at myself in the mirror, it may not be how I used to look, but I am not the woman I used to be. I will be 70 my next birthday and I own my face, my body, and the soul I have acquired. I don't have wrinkles, but the firmness is not there, and I am wholly accepting of that. Lift each other up. We made it this far.
