Don't do it! I follow several Derms on Tiktok, and they say not to do it. My esthetician keeps recommending them, and when I tell her no, she admits that they don't last; they break and cause scarring. She told me they just switched brands because they were having issues with them breaking.

@JeanLouiseFinch I was lost too so I searched it.

A thread lift is a procedure that uses a dissolvable suture to tighten and lift your skin. It’s a less invasive procedure than facelift surgery and can often be performed in under 45 minutes without needing to go under a scalpel.

Polydioxanone (PDO) thread lifts use a biodegradable polyester suture. They’re best suited for rejuvenating your skin while some newer types of thread lifts are better at lifting sagging skin.

The bottom line was what would turn me off:

The authors of a 2019 study/Trusted Source found that a PDO thread lift caused immediate improvements in skin sagging after the procedure. However, there was a noticeable decline in results 6 months later. Improvements were no longer apparent after 1 year.

Of course, the older you are the shorter the results last.

It's like darning a sock where there's thinning, sagging or complete loss of structure but done under the skin just above the muscle and bone areas. It's more temporary than a traditional face-lift, less expensive and less downtime. Some call it a 'Lunchtime Lift'.

I considered this for my sagging jowls and decided that I would try other alternatives first. I am happy with my other methods: radiofrequency microneedling, red light therapy and using my Nuface. Since adding the red light therapy, I am happy and don't want to try the threading at my age. Doesn't seem to last long enough for me.

Infection would be my main concern. The threads are a foreign body under the skin...attached w/ metal sometimes. Taking a chance for just 6 months of improvement? Nah!

I had it done 4 years ago. It works, but its not the most comfortable procedure.

I'm overdue for another.
