MODELS ALREADY MADE UP

I do see a few before and afters without makeup, but when the models begin applying being shown, it's usually on top of a full face of makeup.

This misleads and negates the tones and shades of the foundations, blushes, eye makeup and lip colors.

Anyone noticing this?

Same for hair products - -a simple brushing doesn't produce those sudden curls and bounce.

Tarte , Rep often has one side of her face without makeup or lipstick , then she applies on air . The other 1/2 of her face is the completed makeup look

Except for Adrienne on hsn. Manages to apply a full face of makeup on the models in about sixty seconds. Of course it looks like it's been shot out of a cement mixer 😂😂

@millieshops There's a great and confusing difference in shades of products between the host showing it, the vendor on video and then the models applying them. There's no way to tell the true shades not even checking online.

Absolutely, yes! And when they're told to apply the make up, they use a blank brush just breezing over the spot. They already have the product on. It's totally misleading. That's why I've sent so many beauty items back, and refused to buy any more. How about the girls with the extra long lashes? They're putting on mascara, and it makes it look five times the normal size. They begin with large lashes. The same with lip plumper's. These girls already have big lips. Why don't they put a lip plumper, or a lipgloss on someone with normal, smaller lips?

I'm surprised the makeup atrists and hair stylists still are not on set. Most daytine and prime time live tv shows have "all hands on deck".

@RespectLife - I agree. There's nothing misleading...

I would rather see multiple items presented than a long drawn out presentation of just one or two products.

The content and pace of the Geller show with Leah earlier today was awesome. Some good banter/rapport and item presentations 👏🏻

But @ Shanus....

ordering ANYTHING online or from a catalog it is hard to tell the true shades!

I do a close up of the product itself and try to guess from there...but it is always a shot in the dark with shades UNLESS you go to a store.

Even then, how it looks in the pallete doesn't always translate to your lids, lips etc.

Hate that dry clean brush pretending to be applying makeup & the lighting is position just right so no shadows on face.

And pictures of before & after - look at the difference in color of teeth. Gray to white for after pic.

Well, since they've been doing this for years, I think everyone IS noticing this.

I didn't see whatever it is you're referring to, QVC, youtube or whatever, but if a model has foundation on as a base, and then applies a blush or eye shadow or mascara on top of it, I'm fine with that.

If she already has foundation on, and then applies more foundation, it really doesn't make sense to do that kind of presentation. Nothing is learned.

As far as "negating the shades and tones", I don't think everyone ever gets accurate coloring, whether it's a computer monitor or a tv, the colors will always be close, but probably never exact. Regardless of source, many makeup colors arrive and are "ballpark" close to what I thought it would be. It is what it is when it comes to ordering makeup online.

watching shaun, on laura geller, just now and i doubt a makeup artist would let her out of the chair, with all she had layered on.

@Shanus - I am surprised too. I rarely watch beauty shows anymore but I did put on a Dare to Share Beauty show the other day that I had DVR'd and was shocked to see that they are still doing Zoom, or Skype, or whatever it is, and aren't back in the studio. If I didn't want to watch the beauty shows before, I definitely have no desire to watch a show where the artist can't even bother to be present with the models, whatever the reason.

@rnmom I can do a bare face to a finished face in less than 30 minutes.....and that's foundation to mascara...the entire look. The only reason to start the presentation with models made up is not a time issue, but rather a "fool the eye" issue and confuse the outcome of the products.

I want to see foundation applied to see how many layers it actually takes to achieve the look...the same w/ blush, concealers, mascara and shadows.

The hosts who appear with 60's makeup and then pile on even more are a turn off for me. NO SALE for me.

Yes. the before and afer photos really aren't a good indication of the product. I've noticed that the after picture is always much brighter overall.....
