So many powders!!! Oh my!

There are so many powders out in the cosmetics industry..

pressed, translucent, loose, HD, finishing, compacts, etc. Many years ago I used Coty Airspun and a compact from Cover Girl. I have dry skin with medium cool color and use a hydrating radiance bb cream. Doesn't really make it radiant tho. Of course looking for a flawless finish.

Sure I could google it but looking at what you gals use.

Hi @catsgalore5354 ! I'm going to chime in with a powder alternative. I haven't used a finishing powder in a very long time. More than one mua through the years has told me I don't need to on my combination skin.

That being said, two of my favorite foundations are powder/cream: Laura Geller Balance & Brighten and Voodoo Makeup Coconut Cream foundation.

I usually finish my makeup by using Mally Beauty Poreless Face Defender (my favorite) or a setting spray by Makeup Forever.

It Bye-Bye Pores for me. My favorite is the pressed. Not to reduce the look of pores, but to cut any shine/glow from the skin care. I do not use it over any other makeup.

I also have Hourglass, Ready To Wear, Lancome & a Laura Mercier. (Haven't tried the LM yet.) None are as silky smooth as the It.

I don't use a powder all over, just in the T Zone. I do set my concealer and a bit on bridge of nose (to keep glasses from sliding) with LM Undereye Brightening Powder...

For the T Zone, I used to use the LM white setting powder, but after receiving a sample of the translucent powder, I'm now using that with a small fluffy eye blender brush. I find it gets into areas around nose much better than a lager fluffy powder brush.

After the powders, I go over those areas with a damp sponge to remove any powdery look. This also seems to help it last. Setting spray is last, but only if I'm out for the day.

My fave is loose Mineral Veil by Bare Minerals/Bare Escentuals. I use the Original but it also comes in Tinted and an Illuminating shade. It comes in pressed too. I've tried others but always go back to this.

I only set under my eyes. I don't use any other powder to set the rest of my face. For my eyes I use No. 7 Lift and Luminate in translucent. I like it but when I use it up, I'll give something else a whirl.

Going back many years, I found that the absolute BEST finishing powder was Corn Silk original. It was an exceptionally good finishing powder, and reasonably priced, too.

It was very popular, but some competing company bought it and discontinued it. Just to get rid of their biggest competitor.

Anyone here remember Corn Silk?

@FranandZoe I love Mineral Veil on others...it seems to be really wonderful for oily skin types. The Original shade is too dark for me. I need something that's translucent...no color.

I am currently trying to stay away from powders because my skin is flaking and so I am going with a moisturizing liquid foundation. However, I do not like a shiny looking face and I don't like that it rubs off easliy, so I feel I have to use a bit of powder - sparingly. I just use a compact powder such as Cover Girl Advance Radiance and dab it on the areas where I have the most shine and then I use a fluffy brush very lightly and dust any extra off. Don't know if this is any help....

Bare Mineral used to have products called Radiances... Not sure if they still make them. Have you tried any of the Hourglass powders? They have many shades that sound like what you might be looking for.
