I used to have to wash my hair everyday...partly because of oily looking hair and partly due to how scrunched up looking my shorter hair would look after sleeping on it. Scary hair.

Now that I have longer hair (and because I use Wen) I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week. I put my hair up in a high pony tail to sleep in. In the morning when I take it down, sometimes I just need a good brush and some Velcro rollers for the bangs and I'm good to go. Other days I either have to recurl my hair or I put up the top half of hair.

I have a simple rule...if my bangs don't look good...I start all over and just wash my dang head.

Skipping a Shampoo Day -- What are your tricks for the "day off"?

My hair can be tricky -- it an get oily, so I like to wash every day, with a nice nourishing Wen sometime during the week. But wash too often, and, of course, it gets dry and unfortunately more greasy. It's like I can't win! My solution is to wash every other day. On the days I wash, I wear my hair down or half-up/half-down. On "off days," I wear it in a neat donut bun. Sadly, I'm NOT on of those people who have hair that looks "better the day after a wash" -- so jealous!

I'd love to hear your tricks for the office and for any other time when you don't wash!

I like to wash every other day to preserve natural hair oils and root color.

Steam setting with Caruso really works nicely on the 2nd day, just as nice as when I wash. I also recently got a light, natural ingredient mousse, Neuma, and I've been putting that on first, along with a couple drops of argan oil - just massaging it in my scalp before I set.

When I have to go longer w/o washing, I massage in aloe. The aloe really seems to freshen things up.

I put my hair up on my alternate days if I am going someplace where I have to look nice. If it is the dead cold of winter (below zero), I put a knit hat on and tuck my hair in. In the summer, I get very oily in the bang area, so I will wash the bangs only and put the back up.

Glowstar,

Do you have any boar bristle brushes? They help to redistribute the natural oils in your hair. Also, if you have shoulder length hair you can part your hair the opposite way on non-shampoo days.

I feel your pain! I have long, curly, frizzy-prone hair. As such, I only wash my hair every other day. On the off days, I wet my hair and run conditioner through it. If I don't, and just try to dry brush it, watch out! I get a HUGE bird's nest of dry, frizz. Lol.

As I have gotten older (will be 59 this year) I mostly wash my hair every other day because is it dryer than it was when I was younger, actually sometimes the second day my hair looks better. When I am in the shower I either rinse my hair really well with a bit of conditioner or I just get my hair a little wet either way I then dry my hair with the blow dryer and style as usual.

As I age, I wash hair less. Good grief, we're drying up! Anyway, on my off days, I spray 'leave-in conditioner' on the ends. Looks healthy and also gets rid of the fly aways.

I have a very oily scalp, and I wash every other day. I used to wash every day but it was just getting to be too much since I have long hair now. For second day hair in the morning I flip my head down and massage baby powder into my scalp. I like the results of this better than those dry shampoos. I either pull it back into a side pony or restyle the ends a bit by smoothing over them with a flat iron.

I use baby powder as dry shampoo on the very rare occasion I don't shampoo. A small sprinkle in my hand that I run through the roots then brush.

I also started use Bumble and Bumble Tonic on a regular basis (it has been great for dry, winter, itchy scalp) and it works great as a refresher for day old hair.
