Face mosturizer

Did/do you use a face moisturizer that changed your skin, even a little? Maybe something that plumped up the wrinkles a little. I am looking for something for normal skin that gets a little dry in the winter and more oily in warm weather. My skin also tends to be somewhat sensitive.

I know Q hosts and vendors claim their products will 'plump' or 'firm' etc., and so do many ads that you see on TV and in print.It's all hype. No, a moisturizer can only moisturize.

I use argon oil (not JM) and a vitamin c/green tea cream all year. Both are very gently and work well.

I started using Kate McLeod face stone a little over a month ago. I'm in my late 60's with sensitive, dry skin. I have my share of wrinkles and have no delusions about any product making me look "10 years younger". I also live in a very cold, dry climate in Colorado. What I have found is that I can use this stone near my eyes, my face, and my neck. My skin is very moisturized, but not greasy, it has a glow I haven't seen in many years, and the wrinkles have softened due to being hydrated. My neck appears firmer and has less wrinkles. I haven't used any other products day or night. I believe it will last around 4 months.

When I started using glycolic acid creams and lotions it changed my skin for good. I'll never go back to using anything else. GA is a very small molecule that can penetrate the skin deeply and it is a humectant which means it holds water. So when you put it on your skin, it plumps it and keeps it smooth for a long time. Builds collagen, too. I use Alpha Skin Care brand.

Do you recommend the serum or the cream from Alpha Skin care? There seem to be several available. Currently using the PC 8% aha w/ no irritation at all. Just wondering if I can go to the 14% serum if I try the Alpha product. Thank you ...

Try the cream first. That has 10% GA. The 14% serum is a steep jump from your PC 8% so maybe plan to use that one later at some point. I really like the 10% cream.

Count me in on liking Alpha Skincare as well. The serum was sticky, so not my favorite, but the 12% body lotion is one of my AM moisturizer. I alternate between it and the Walmart/Equate. version of CeraVe PM. At night, i use Skinn Pep 40 Creme Riche with a few drops of Divine Elixir Luminous Oil..

@Janey2 - I didn't use moisturizer for years, just moisturizing sunscreen during the day, on my dermatologist's advice. I have combination skin with rosacea. I do take a very low dose of Doxycycline for that and people can't tell I have it.

My skin never felt dry. But last fall I noticed it was kind of blah, and although not dry, it seemed a little "off." I started using Josie Maran's Milk. It felt good going on and "I " thought my skin looked a little better.

A few weeks later one of my male coworkers commented that I looked brighter and happier. We have masks on and off.

I tried Argon oil, and it was a little too much for me. I do like Argon oil light, but I like Milk better.

I look at Milk as a light moisturizer.

Using at least 10% GA has been shown to be the 'sweet spot' as far as getting results w/o any significant irritation. At that strength it can stimulate collagen as well as exfoliate the skin enough to cause noticeable skin renewal. That doesn't mean 7% won't do that but what it means is the change in your skin might not be significant enough to see noticeable improvements within a reasonable amount of time. Cell turnover takes about 4 to 6 weeks. Shortening that time is a good thing so you need a higher concentration to achieve that in most cases.

I use a microfiber wash cloth.

Then I use Dr Denese firming facial pads.

Finallyi finish up with Dr Denese Hydroshield. It is a moisturizer.

My daughter lives in Colorado where they have an average of sunshine 300 days a year.

My youngest daughter is 41. She goes to a dermatologist 2 times a year.

A few years back the Dr told her her face was not looking 'healthy'.

I bought the firming facial pads and Hydroshield for her.

Her next visit back to the Dr she (the Dr) said ,"Your skin really looks good. Whatever you are doing...keep it up".

So now I'm committed to have both of those sent to my daughter.

Using glycolic acid makes your skin prone to sunburn so wear sunscreen when appropriate.

Neutrogina Hydrogel is pretty good. Eucerin Co Q10 for sensitive skin is very nice, too.

@Janey2 Plumping, firming, wrinkle reducing, NO but a combination of products can be brightening, moisturizing and maybe fade darkness.

I changed from my Skinceutical products about 3-4 months ago (after at least a decade of use) to Keihl's moisturizers and eye cream, a glycolic serum 10% from L'Oreal Revitalift and Aveeno Calm and

Restore serum for redness I sometimes get from drier skin (and Retin A). I also use a Vit.C serum for brightness.

I've been doing some reading about facial oils (that I love), but seem to be occlusive when placed on the skin first and doesn't allow some products to penetrate. it seems to be best used as a last step in skincare before SPF to seal in skincare. I've been using it this way for about 6 weeks and will report back when I have an opinion.

I do not think a moisturizer alone can achieve improvements in the complexion.

@Janey2 I receive immediate results with Hyaluronic Acid serum by Kylie Skin and deep moisture. Love it. I also use her moisturizer and Vanilla Milk toner. My skin is super soft even in this winter weather and I live north.
