Haircuts

I refuse to pay $55 and above for a haircut. You start liking the stylist and bingo the price increases. I said no to last increase and had to find someone new. The young woman cutting my hair now is such a nice person. The way this salon works is only 2 stylists a day in the salon because it s small so it works out for the stylists and one stylists pays for chair and has all his own clients, the other gals work for the salon. My haircut is $40 which is very reasonable and she cuts my hair really cute in a Pixie. Do you have a limit as to how much you will pay for a haircut?

The Pandemic shut down hurt so many businesses. My salon is a 2 person situation and I'm friendly with the owner. She explained that she lost business and her supplies have really increased in price. She had to increase her prices , but such a small amount I have no trouble paying them. It's a fine line they walk, the need to increase prices but not so much that you lose business. One woman said , " How dare you charge more. ". People are the worst.

I always get my color & cut together, so I don't even know how each service breaks out. I pay $120 for color & cut (she gives me the friends/family discount). Prior to getting the discount, she charged $165ish for color & cut. Either way, I think it is reasonable. My hairdresser prior to her charged even more for my color & cut and was nowhere near as talented as my current hairdresser! It's a win-win!

I go happily to Supercuts. Basic haircut is $18.95 (I think) 10% senior discount. They do add a $3.95 surcharge for Covid. But I would be very unhappy paying more than $30 or $40.

I get a cut and color and my stylist is a one person room but she raised her prices by $10 the first of the year. I pay $120. I like her, she does a good job and she has reasonable hours and is very accommodating.

I don't pay for haircuts as my daughter is a stylist and cuts my hair for free. Of course, I did pay for her to go to cosmotology school...........

I don't see the point in spending much on something that doesn't last very long. The most I've ever paid was $55 once and that's with tax and tip but I haven't spent that much in years. I now keep it under $30 (again with tax and tip).

Last year I decided I'd had enough of paying $40 and up for a short pixie cut. I go to Super Cuts now. Twenty bucks every five weeks. Natural grey hair. I get compliments on my hairstyle and "color".

I had the stylist for 15 years...then the salon owner began charging much more, so most of the stylists left and went to new salons. Mine has moved three times and is too far away now. She is now wanting $85 for a haircut. Too much, especially since I had been paying her $50 for years....I think her long-time clients should get a break on her prices. I found someone else ho does a good job and charges less.

I was cutting my own hair during the pandemic, and I liked it ok ( learned how via YouTube), After I went to a popular salon twice and it was quite pricey ( over $50). And Ya know, I didn't like the cuts that much. Last week I got notified of a "price adjustment"- which I bet isn't a decrease! 🤣 I am not going back. I will cut it myself or go to Supercuts!

I have naturally curly hair that I've worn in a pixie cut for decades. I don't color or perm it. Before the pandemic, I got it cut by a woman barber and paid $20 w/o a shampoo and $25 w/shampoo. Then I tipped her on top of that. Although the shop is still there, they've been closed since the then Governor closed barbershops and salons in 2020. The stylist I've been going to since July 2020 (shortly after the Governor lifted the closure) has a room in a Sola franchise. I think he charges $35 for a cut, shampoo and blow dry. All I know is that I give him a $50 bill each time and we're both very happy.

I pay $135 for cut, color and highlights...not including the tip. But I only go twice a year, touch up my roots only and give myself a trim in between. My hair is just above my shoulders so it's easy to trim it up a little. Every time I go, they add a few more dollars to the price but she's been doing my hair for over 30 years and I have never been disappointed.

Haha. Right. So, figure I spent $15,000 15 years ago for school. Somehow I think I'm actually paying quite a bit for my haircuts!

I have long thick with layers so I expect to pay more than a standard haircut. I have my hair cut as part of my color service so I don’t know what my stylist charges for just a haircut. She increased my cut and color by $10 to $75 last July. It was her first increase in 5 years and still below market rate for the service in this market.

Same here but I pay $15 (with the senior discount) at Fantastic Sam's and that includes a shampoo!

I get compliments regularly from strangers on my haircut and occasionally on my color, which is siver. Just yesterday, I was in my optometrist's waiting room, waiting for my eye exam, and the girl at the desk looked over and asked me if that was my natural color or did I dye it that way. I stopped dyeing my hair over 10 years ago and would have done it sooner if I'd known my natural color looked good on me.

In Philadelphia, many places charge over $100 and up for a simple cut and blow dry. Color would be a lot more. And then the tipping. I've been cutting my own hair for about five years, and maybe results not perfect but pretty darn good. I did go to cosmetology school a thousand years ago so perhaps I have a tiny clue about how to do it,but not really, cutting your own is not the same thing as cutting someone else's. I prefer doing my own,not just to save money, but also I can't stand sitting on that chair with hands touching, person/stylist standing in front of me, walking around me from side to side, seeing my wet headed self in the mirror in a public place.... I much rather cut my hair myself. Many women enjoy a day at the salon and that is great. Oh gosh, and forget a facial, manicure, or massage. Not for me😁

I have a pretty basic cut, long with some layers and wispy bangs. After I went almost a year without a cut, my Supercuts did a trim for under $20. Last time I had it trimmed I went to the cosmetology school where they give haircuts for $4.50 and the young woman that cut my hair did an excellent job. The regular salons were overbooked and I just wanted the split ends cut off. After having bangs for so long and watching how they have cut them over the years, I end up trimming them myself if I need to.

Since my cut is so easy, I have no issue with going to the school again, if they screw it up, I'll have it cut off and go to one of the expensive salons and get it fixed. My hair is thick and grows fast, and since I usually just wear it in a ponytail for work, it saves me a lot of time. On the weekend I either let it air dry into waves or blow it dry - I'm very low maintenance and after reading what everyone is paying, I'm saving a huge amount of money by having a basic no-frills haircut.
