Who uses Aveda and what do you think?

I used it many years ago and stopped because of the price and changes in my beloved Shampure line....ingredients and fragrance.

I was actually surprised to see that. Aveda is very picky about ONLY being in an AVEDA salon. I have a friend who got her training at Aveda and when you do not work for an aveda branded salon, you don't have access to their products. My guess is that the pandemic hit the industry hard.

I haven't used the brand for many years.

I've not used Aveda...but can I ask ur opinion about a brow product you would recommend for someone with not much brow hairs.

You were very helpful when I asked about eyeliners for blue eyes...loved ur recommendations!

The salon where I have my hair colored and cut is an Aveda salon. They only use Aveda products and I only use Aveda products on my hair. Every few months the salon has customer apprecition week and they sell the products including styling tools at 30% off. I try to purchase my products then. I use the Smooth Infusion and Cherry Almond lines. I tried some of the newer lines like Nutriplenish but it seemed too heavy for my hair. I do like the Air Control hair spray. I didn't know that they had changed the Shampure line. I loved that fragrance. Can't imagine that it will be less expensive to order Aveda products from QVC because of shipping.

They changed that rule a few years ago. My Aveda salon sells and uses several different brands.

I use invati advanced light shampoo, invati thickening conditioner, and damage remedy daily hair repair. I recently tried botanical repair (sample) and liked it. Not that fond of the scent, but it disappears in a few minutes. I always order from their website. Their customer service is excellent and they ship immediately.

I go to an Aveda salon and have been using their Smooth line for years. I love it. I'm so surprised to see it on TV. I will continue to support my hairdresser and buy my products from her.

While back I paid $100 for a kit for thinning hair, total waste of time and money!! There is an Aveda salon near my daughter, very pricey.

Years and years ago, I used their color depositing shampoo. Due to all those "natural" ingredients and wildflowers in it, my allergies went into overdrive. That ended that!

@grandmatobe A bit off topic, but I recommend filing in only bald spots w/ a pencil...either benefit Gimme brow or a ABH pencil and then soften it w/ a powder. This doesn't have to be brow powder. Most shadow palettes have a taupish shade. I then set it w/ a clear brow gel or one with colored fibers (both from Benefit). It's always better to achieve a natural brow look even if not completely filled in. It's better than completely drawn on brows.

@Harpa This is a bit deceiving. They tend to use models w/ good, thick hair when doing a demo for most hair products to show great "results".

Aveda has a wonderful spray I used for detangling which was also a heat protectant.

With the exception of the ColorConserve shampoo that I really liked, all the other Aveda products have had an overwhelming and unpleasant smell to me.

I was blessed with thick hair that has a lot of body. Every stylist I've been to has said the same thing - most women would kill for your hair and think volume products will do the trick. They don't ...yes, those are models with great hair!

Shampure was the one I used and loved probably 35 years ago! It was wonderful -- and yes, rather pricey. I thought it was worth it though. I also used this little tube of stuff and I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. It was rather like a pomade and you used just a tiny bit on your hair as the last step. It had this delicious, aromatic -- rather Maroccan scent -- very mysterious! Back then, I went to an Aveda salon and got all my styling, cuts, products, etc. It was the best salon and they were very meticulous about everything.

I can't speak for the quality or ingredients of their products now. I hope they have kept the standards up. I know that the founder, Horst Recklebocher (sp) died some years ago - so who kows what happened after he passed away.

@AngelPuppy1 The companies that are purchased or the expense of ingredients cause changes. I know when I checked their site, there were complaints about some products. I even had Shampure candles years ago. Now so expensive for ones a bit bigger than votives...no way!

It seems that this happens so much! Quality suffers and then the products are not the same. For those of us who used the products many years ago, we knew the true, original products and the quality that was there, and it's so disappointing when these standards no longer seem to be there. I guess the way of the world, for the most part! Less quality, for a bigger price tag.....

@AngelPuppy1 Have Moroccan Oil S&C in rotation w/ drugstore brands. Love the fragrance and since my hair is so short, it takes forever to use it up.
