Your Top 5

Since we're almost at the end of another year, I thought it would be fun to list our Top 5 Favorite Beauty Buys of 2021. If you purchased in 2021 and it's new to you, what is it you find yourself reaching for & using a lot since trying it? If it's a kit, name the kit as one choice instead of breaking it down to individual pieces. It can be anything beauty related. I'll go first, no particular order, lol.

1. Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen. Love this primer in both this & the Matte Screen formulas

2. Chartlotte Tillbury Hollywood Filter. I use as a highlighter with or without a base.

3. This portable little fan. Use everyday to dry setting spray and/or in the summer just to cool off. Love.

4. Charlotte Tillbury Setting Spray. I really like the finish it gives my face & just works great for me.

5. RMS Eternal Sunset Collection Lip & Cheek Set. Ended up using this so much since I received it. The bronzer is talc free & natural but can be built up, & I also use it as eyeshadow. Love the color of the balm, very natural but I mix it up with the little pot of cheek/lip product. I am surprised how much I used this combo.

What were some of your favorite things in beauty?

2. Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow talk Lipstick

3.Too Faced Diamond Hi-Lighter

4.Pop Colour blush

5..Flower Beauty Lipstick

@San Antonio Gal yes, and it's sweat proof (resistant) & doesn't sting my eyes if I accidentaly touch them when wiping sweat, lol. It is so nice in the hot weather! Light weight plus leaves my skin velvety soft. It comes in Unseen which is slightly mattifying on me, Matte Screen & Glow Screen. I think a couple years back QVC might've sold it, if I'm remembering correctly. Wish they would again & have a bundled deal. My DH wears it to work sometimes as well (not on his days off) but he prefers Bull Frog or something like that if working outside. I definitely recommend it even if to wear just under makeup because it can be pricier than others but it's a great primer on its own.

@Mom2Dogs Where can I read about your primer, is it By Terry? I'm glad you found one that works for you, I have a few primers that I like but By Terry is $$$, right?

@SilleeMee I like your little pink fan better! They are great, aren't they? I can't remember the last time I charged mine, it goes & goes. That Bee Stunning tool is on my radar after you mentioned it. Hopefully will purchase before summertime. I want to use it on my tricep area & legs.

@RooRoo $55.00 for 1.35 oz. My make up looks great the entire day. If you go to Amazon you can read reviews, pro and con. I believe someone on the boards mentioned it a while back, that is were I heard about it.

I don't buy a lot of make up, just the basics, so this product was more than I would typically spend on a product buy for me, worth it.

@Leeny I carry PillowTalk in my purse, it always looks good. Such a nice color! I've read & seen great reviews on Flower Beauty but have never seen it anywhere. Then again, with Covid I haven't been anywhere to shop other than

groceries & Ulta.

@JudyL I wore the Loreal Voluminous for many years & loved it. Will have to try the Maybelline you've mentioned. I think I got away from some of my tried & true products during Covid. I got into the swing of online ordering & strayed with newer (to me) formulas. I received a sample of the Rare Beauty mascara a while back & do like it very much but it really is no better than Voluminous. Hard to improve on such a good formula but I like that Rare Beauty is cruelty free.

@SurferWife I've never tried Wen! I'd like to try some of his face & body products, they sound so nice.

I think my only "new" products are John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette shampoo and conditioner. (His "Midnight Brunette" isn't as good.)

Absolutely love how it tones down the gray and deepens the brown of my salt-and-pepper hair. Definitely a keeper!

I added it to my Amazon subscription orders - delivered every two months. I wash my hair every day and go though a lot of shampoo and conditioner.

I don't think I have 5 things. But this year I tried and really do like the Dr. Kaplan moisturizers: either the Diamond Contour or the Night Replenishment.

Also, the Ready To Wear lipsticks. Nobody on here ever talks about RTW, but he has some really good things.

Lastly, Tarte sugar rush eye brow pencil.

Everything else I use is old hat.

@Shanus It is hard !! I should've asked for honorable mentions as well, LOL, but was afraid it would get to be too much. I often think about the vast selection of cosmetic products that are available to us. We are so lucky in this country ! There are so many options and price points !! I wonder how some companies stay in business competing with the mega conglomerates? The amount of beauty items purchased is probably the answer, the number is probably staggering.

Hmmm... top five found in 2021....

no particular order:

- Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. I love this mascara. I was using a few different ones-- Grande Lash, RMS, Bare Minerals Serum Mascara... but the Roller Lash doesn't flake and looks very natural (I'm over the false lashes look)

- R+CO Volumizing Treatment. I get this at the salon and because of it use the the shampoo, conditioner and volumizing spritz. All really great products.

- Tatcha Essence and Violet C Serum (this is a kit sold on QVC) Tatcha is my favorite skin care line now.

-Tatcha Eye Brightening Pearl. I have had the best results when I use a flat brush. Put a dot on the inner and outer corners. Not the triangle of light as Trish McEvoy alway touted. highlighter racoon eyes are a pet peeve of mine. Just those two dots looks the most natural.

-Thrive Causemtics Concealer. I really like this in place of a full foundation. I only put on the "spots" I need a little coverage and not all over. I think it's a more natural look that makes my skin look flawless. I put it around my nose and above my brows where I have a little redness.

I think the products I like best are the ones that look the most natural, me but just a little better. Which I think says a lot about how much over this year, I have really workied on loving myself and appreciating my looks for what they are. Not what beauty should be. So I add my attitude change to my list!! LOL I am favorite find in 2021! Oops. that's 6!

Hi @RooRoo I see him on ShopHQ. Usually on a Friday early evening. I'm sure he has a website, but I never looked for it.

@RooRoo Over this past year, I've seen more new products than ever. It seems like there are many new items each day...maybe trying to make up (LOL) for lost sales last year during Covid. I'm thinking with many of us paring down the number of products and our routines, some lines will not last. I'm seeing deep discounts from many sites and stores are price matching.

This has been a year of transitioning away from higher priced products and finding more budget friendly options. My list is more skincare than makeup. Narrowing everything down to only five things is difficult.

1. Tretinoin (I've used it before, then stopped for several years, redisovered it this year)

2. Essence Volume Booster Lash Primer
3. Hylamide SubQ for Eyes Serum (a recent discovery, but I already love it)
4. Ample N Ceramide Shot Ampoule/Ample N Peptide Shot Ampoule (tied)
5. Alpha Skincare 12% Body Lotion as a face moisturizer (used it for a long time as a body lotion but just started on the face recently)

Honorable mention - Equate dupe for CeraVe PM Moisturizing Lotion
