Hello Results Retinol and eye irritation

I have been using the Hello Results Retinol and the cream that come packaged together from a month or so ago. I use the Retinol product at night and let it soak in and then apply the moisturizer. After about 8 days or so my checks and around my eyes burned. I stopped using the product for a few days and have gone back to using both again, only skipping a day or 2. However, I've noticied my eyes have started watering? I'm thinking that is a strange reaction to the Retinol? But, I quit using both products and it's getting better. Does anyone else have this happen? I do like the way my skin feels and it looks a little brighter.

It was recommended to me to apply just a light smear of vaseline around the eyes with a tissue before using the retinol. It sounds like it is migrating into your eyes, which is easy to happen.

@LillyBee2 Your skin may be too sensitive to jump into a nightly routine right off the bat. It might be better for you to back off and work your way into nightly use over time. You also might consider flipping your routine. Cleanse and apply any of your serums, moisturizer, or eye cream (whatever your usual products are) first and give them a decent amount of time to absorb and allow your face to dry down a minimum of 20 mins. Your moisturizer will act somewhat as a buffer that way. Apply the retinol anytime after that 20 minute wait and bedtime. I use prescription strength Tretinoin. My system is to wash up and do my stuff any time between after dinner and 8:00 PM. Then I apply my Tretinoin at bedtime. Sometimes I'll skip it altogether if I'm feeling irritated or if I've over exfoliated via shaving and using a fuzzy microfiber makeup removal cloth. On those nights, I just slather on extra ceramide serum and watermelon gel cream.

@LillyBee2 You may be using too high a percentage of retinol. can you drop back to a lower one until your skin adapts?

Apply moisturizers, eye creams and spot treatments (if you use any) first. Retinoid products should be applied last...a thin even layer.

The reason for that order of application is to avoid transferring the retinoids to places you don't want them.
