topic O/T Traveling Around In New York City! in Beauty

I've visited New York City several times. I love going there! I always thought that if I won the lottery I'd buy a very small place in the heart of New York City just to be able to walk around and see the people.

I'm smart enough (Ha!) to know this is a silly 'romantic' idea I have and I would be totally disillusioned; but it's fun to think about.

Anyway, finally my question. I was wondering about how much it must cost to travel around if you live in New York and do most of your business in the city.

I know New Yorkers walk everywhere but some things are just too far away. When we'd go we'd either drive (my late husband used to love (I swear to you he did) around the streets in New York City). We'd have a terrible time finding a place to park and we stayed usually in Connecticut and take the train in most of the time.

Listening to Bobby on HSN talk over and over about how last week she was in New York City made me think that it must be crazy to do business there and have to take a cab everywhere.

I'm interested in hearing you ladies who work and/or live in the City. How do you do it and is it as expensive to take cabs everywhere?

Thanks ahead of time for answering me and indulging me in this fantasy of mine.
