@Harpa Of course. Please tell me the eye and lip shades and if you prefer a lighter or darker or brighter blush color. I may only have dept. store suggestions since not as familiar w/ drugstore makeup.

Laura Mercier lip in Rouge Essentiel in Rose Mauve

and

LM cavier stick in Bed of Roses. (I'll use this above the crease.)

(I wish I could post the shades. They copy into Word, but from Word to Q, it doesn't post.)

I prefer a medium tone... but these are darker than normal for me. I just think I need something that is more complentary in tone & shade. Doesn't have to be LM. (Don't care if it's drug store or not.)

@Harpa I chose LM blushes for you since she usually co-ordinates tones in her products. In a powder blush, I like CHAI. It's described as a matte dirty rose...horrible word dirty, but to me just means it's not too bright. ROSE is another choice which is a matte rose pink, much brighter.

If you prefer a cream blush, I suggest ROSEBUD.

Keep in mind that if eye makeup is deeper, darker, more drama, I'd go w/ a lighter cheek and lip, so the look is not overdone. If your eye makeup is more subdued, a brighter lip (like the one you named) should be OK with CHAI.

***BTW, Laura Mercier and many other makeup brands are on sale at Nordstrom w/ free shipping and free returns. Good luck with these tips and suggestions.

I did get the Rose, but also the Passionfruit. I do not own many color blushes. I've been using the IT Contour palette, and also the Gallany face palette. I just lightly shade any way, and try to stay in more natural shades.

I hope I do not scare my DH with the new me!

@Shanus How about an eye shadow that I can wear as an all over, quick, not very obvious bit of color for the challenged. Like on the eyelid and a little to the crease.

I have a couple of nice light pinks, but would like to hear what my pro friend suggests, but am looking for a light smoky gray that isn't brown or isn't violet, but is a more cool, more neutral gray! Sort of a silver gray but not sparkly or really shiny.

@Shanus By the way you helped my skin SOOOO much this year with your advice! A huge thanks! And something I'm using every night now along with a very light moisturizer and maybe some Shiseido serum is Derm-e Vit. C serum and it is great for my awful sensitive skin!

Have you used any of their products?

@Sooner Back to Nordstrom (sale prices), I like BB Stone Stick Eyeshadow. It stays put. It does not have any shimmer, which I prefer because I can take a light shimmer shadow from any palette and apply it with my finger on the center of my lid...on top of the stick shadow.

I have very good skin and have taken care of it for years. In the past few years, when I put on foundation, all I see are my pores, which are not visible in my lighted mirror until I put on the foundation. I have tried every type of primer to no avail. The best, so far, as been Charlotte Tilbury, but I am wondering if I need to put on more primer or just skip it. I have had facials for years and am always told how beautiful my skin is. When I put on foundation, I am not seeing it.

@SXMGirl Here I go with skincare again. Sometimes pores are enlarged if not exfoliated well....clogged w/ residue. Retin A or retinol at night will reduce pores, but not immediately.

Sometimes primers that have silicone may make foundations not sit well on the skin OR the foundation may need to be more matte to make pores not as visible. If foundation is too heavy or oily, pores can become more obvious. Helpful?

@Shanus I have used quite a few and have not really been unhappy with any, but for a Vit. C this is effective (some just aren't) and well priced and I like the little pump container a lot.

The product is a loose gel, which is so much easier to use than drippy liquids.

@Shanus Thanks for your reply. I do use Retin A, but not every night since it is too harsh for me to use nightly. I also exfoliate, but I will make sure that I do a very good job of it. I have many different foundations, along with the primers, but if you have a specific recommendation for foundation and/or primer, please let me know.

Hi, if you get the time can you tell me a good shade bronzer, that doesn't turn orange for shading sides of my nose ? thanks. Also good shade eyeliner for gray blue eyes ? I have a lot of brown, but wonder if it"s too warm for my cool tone skin.

@SXMGirl Surprisingly, I don't use a primer since I don't need to keep makeup on for 10-12 hours. On clients, I use Laura Mercier primer or Bobbi Brown's Vit. Enriched Face Base which is a moisturizer and primer.

I'm not a foundation wearer. I choose a tinted moisturizer and then concealer where needed. I do recommend Estee Lauder Double Wear or Bobbi Brown's Skin Weightless Longwear foundation. Both of these come in many shades.

@Daludog Unfortunately bronzers are usually not the right tone for shading/contouring. I prefer something w/ a greyish/taupe tone that actually resembles a shadow and looks more natural.

I like Kevein Aucoin Contour powder...it's a single pan pressed powder (Sephora) that comes in a few shades. It's tiny and not inexpensive, but gives the most natural look for any shading or contouring. BTW, it lasts a very long time. I've had mine for about a year.

I suggest an eyeliner in a dark chocolate brown w/o any red in it or navy liner.
