Gee, I just found out that another celebrity has a beauty line. Selena Gomez has her own called rare beauty. I never knew this.

Have absolutely NO INTEREST in any of these lines. Would be interesting to see how many are still in business in another 3-4 years.

Olivia Jade was supposed to get her own beauty line too but that was derailed when her parents got involved in the college scandal for her and her sister.

Both Salma Hayek and Eva Mendes' lines are out of business. Selena Gomez's beauty line has been out for a year or two I believe. Drew Barrymore has done a great job with her Flower Beauty line, I love her blush. She even has a line of hair tools now.

Don't forget JLo has her frangrances (I think they are still sold) and also has a skincare line.

I just bought a blush this weekend from Selena's Rare Beauty. So far I like it (very pigmented).

Many of those celebrity cosmetics are made in some already existing factories. For example, Kylie Cosmetics are made in the factory where Colourpop Cosmetics are made.

I thought the honest company stuff was geared to family and personal care items. Not makeup @apl_pi14 . Not sure though.

Beckham's line is a luxury brand and doing well. Not sure about the others.

The only ones I know that are doing well from the list I posted are:

Traci Ellis Ross' hair care. She's got youtube videos

Taraji P. Henson's hair care is selling, but I don't think it's been out long.

Vivica A. Fox's wigs (long time making money from these wigs).

Kylie Beauty (she sold it to Coty)

Fenty Beauty which is under luxury brands LVMH.

I believe Camilla Cabello has something with L'Oreal sort of like what Queen Latifah did with Cover Girl!

I get the disdain for celebrity brands, however, I wouldn't discount them just because there's a celebrity name behind them.

Flower Beauty and Honest have some great drugstore products and I think they are doing very well. There's a reason Fenty is so popular and it's not just because it's Rihanna's brand, they have some really great products. I have a forest green eyeliner from Haus and like it. Many years ago, I used to buy a hair conditioner from Nuance from CVS and loved it. I don't think it's around anymore. I haven't tried Rare Beauty, but some of the products get really good reviews at Sephora.

I never buy a brand just because it's backed by a celebrity but I also wouldn't not try something because it is. I always wait to read reviews or get a sample just like I do with any brand.

I love everything that I have from the Fenty line!!

I really miss Salma Hayek Nuance line. She had some great skin care. I am on my last tube of her Wild Lime Exfoliating Facial Gel. It is my favorite & now I am sad.

I did try a couple of things from Flower by Drew Barrymore, but wasn't impressed.

I do want to try Selena Gomez Rare Beauty Blush.

Oh yeah. Millie Bobby Brown has her Florence line, also. Never tried it.

@monicakm I have that lavender powder and agree, it's great under my eyes. I've really liked everything I've tried. I think it's one of the best lines out there (including all non-celebrity brands).

Have you tried her Flypencil eye liner? I've been on the hunt for a new one for my upper waterline since my HG Milk Boss liner (thanks Mel) was discontinued. I'm planning on trying the Patrick Ta during the Sephora sale but was also considering the Fenty.

@lkat You made me think of something I hadn't realized, but: I guess I pretty much do avoid them if they are a celebrity's name. I just stick to companies that have a solid reputation in the cosmetics industry and are focused on that and not a name.

You are paying for the name, so why go there? And I don't believe any celebrity had anything significant to do except chosing the packaging and a few colors. They are concerned with their contract mostly and lawyers handle that.

@Sooner I get what you're saying. There are some celebrity brands that I will never try because I really dislike the celebrity. I wouldn't try something just because I like someone, but I'm not opposed to it. Just because it has a celebrity name doesn't mean it's not good. It's not like the old days when there were only a handful of beauty brands. There are a ton of brands nowadays and a lot of the newer ones have really nice products.

A good example is Fenty. I like Rihanna but wouldn't have tried anything just because it was her line. I only decided to try a few things after reading so many great reviews and seeing some of the products in person. The things I've tried have been great. My feelings about them having nothing to do with her and everything to do with the quality. I also think the prices are reasonable.

But I do get why you might totally avoid celebrity products. I realized last week after reading a perfume thread that I always avoided sampling a Britney Spears fragrance because I wasn't a fan even though I had read some good reviews about some of them.

@apl_pi14 - I also bought this Saturday! As usual I went looking for another blush I had in mind and the mua steered me to this. She matched me to "Bliss," which is a pretty peach. And you're right, it's really pigmented!

I put 3 dots on this morning and it was too much. Yesterday I used two tiny dots. That was perfect!

I'd never heard of Rare Beauty before.

Anyway, to repeat myself: Billie Eilish is launching a fragrance to come out next month. It's called Eilish!. Available direct from her website.

The bottle, a gorgeous metallic bust, looks more like a sculpture than something you'd expect from a celebrity perfume (though Kim Kardashian West's Body fragrance does come to mind). It was inspired by Eilish's favorite areas on the human body: the collarbone, neck, and back. Eilish told Vogue she didn't want the bottle to depict a certain body type, since there's beauty in them all.

I have only bought one gloss from the Fenty line. I discovered that I liked the Maybelline Lifter Glosses so much better. My feeling is celebrities need to stay in their lane.
