@SeaMaiden I can't give an honest opinion since I've never used it. My Retin A is a prescription. I know that may be too strong for some.

How much retinol is in that Roc product?? It would help to know how much and whether or not the retinol is encapsulated. Without knowing the specifics it's difficult to say just how effective any retinol product would be. It's best to buy retinol with a known concentration and preferably one with an airtight/light-protected delivery system.

@SilleeMee They do not tell you....which seems so unfair, but I guess no laws to force many companies to be honest and share that info....

I think at times dermatologists are NOT prescribing Retin A as much as they did when I was suffering with acne. It seems dermatologists are more into their own name brand line of skincare products with Retin A in it. My dermatologist is more likely to give me an invitation to "bring a friend" night at his office where he can tell you about Botox or collagen injections ... BTW I am 73 and I still get pimples

And a question for you...if a person doesn't have deep wrinkles would this or other products like it help delay the onset of deep wrinkles? IOW would I use it as a preventative? Wait, I do have a deep wrinkle. It's the number 1 (not 11) between my eyes. So is this product claiming to reduce the look of this deep wrinkle?

@monicakm Not as good as Silleemee but I can help answer. I've used it 4 or 5 years. Prescripton Retin A (not OTC retinol) prevents the onset of wrinkles and helps treat existing wrinkles. It works best when started in the late 20s or early 30's, although it's never too late to start. It also prevents and treats age spots. It increases the rate of new skin cells which slow down with age so older skin looks younger. No other anti-aging product is scientifically proven to work like Retin A.

Good one! It's not about the coffee, I'm a night owl too! With Retina A , most people need a break in period so there's little irritation, redness and peeling. It's not really meant for spot treating, rather all over the face or face, neck and decollete. There's .025, .05 and 0.1 strengths from lowest to highest strengths. Most people start a few nights a week with the .05, sensitive skin people like me start with the 0.25.

It's not magic, fine lines may disappear but a deep wrinkle will likely just soften, not go away totally. And it takes a few months to start to see results. It's not temporary treatment, it's something you have to commit to using over the long term.

I have friends who use it and friends who don't. We're ages 56- late 60's and the ones who use it all seem to have much better looking skin- clearer, firmer, smoother.

I'll never give up Retin A.. It's scientifically proven to help improve and prevent wrinkles, along with sunscreen. It's amazing stuff.

Just wondering how long you've been using the RoC? And what changes have you noticed?

Some of us (me!) prefers to use a lower strength retinol. And because for me, there is [still] no reason to, I guess you could say, "advance" to Retin-A.

I e-mailed RoC at one time to ask the % of retinol, and they declined to answer.

@monicakm so you don't get any irritation and redness I'd suggest watching a ftutorials on how to start using Retin-A. Off the top of my head, I remember waiting at least 20 minutes after you cleanse before applying it, and also stay away, don't apply it near the corners of the mouth and your nostrils also not near your eyes top or bottom. Also, don't apply any other products before or after it. HTH

Using tretinoin in a 'micro' form will help reduce irritation from using it. Tret micro comes in the same dosages as regular tret. The difference between those two is how they are formulated and not how effective they are. Micro means the tret is delivered to the skin in micro doses where it's sort of time released in small amounts inside the skin over time which means there is less irritation. Otoh, regular tret is delivered all at once and that can cause irritation for some people. Another positive thing about tret micro is that it can be applied immediately to freshly cleansed skin whereas with regular tret needs to be applied to thoroughly dried skin so it doesn't cause more irritation.
