topic Hair Color Question in Beauty

I just started having gray hair around the temples and lightly throughout the back. While curling my hair I actually can see it throughout here and there. My natural color is medium brown with golden highlights. I was just wondering is there a product that will just cover the grays without changing the color of my natural hair color. I am only interested in semi permanent hair color as permanent as I have been reading can be damaging on hair plus I don't like as it grows out having to have it done again as my hair grows pretty fast. This is probably a crazy question but I know here on the boards I would get some good suggestions. Thanks.

I use Clairol Root Touch up. It says perm color. But to be honest, it seems to me like it washes out in 4-6 weeks. If you try it, maybe try on section of hair that doesn't show first? It's pretty inexpensive - anywhere between $6- $8, depending on where and when you buy. They do have a medium, golden brown. IMO, go lighter than the darkest part of your hair. I've used this for years and had no issue of seeing a line, etc.

One of the things I do is brush on a bit farther than root growth, then take a fine comb and comb thru until the ends, just using the dye mixture you have on root area. (Hope that makes sense). You also do NOT have to do your whole head. I basically do the temple area, bangs, crown and part area.

Lastly, one of the things I do now that I know which color works, is mix any remaining colorant w/ my favorite cream rinse (I uses Wen) and after the initial 15 minutes is over, place the cream rinse w/ dye all over my hair and leave on for about 5 minutes. Rinse all of it off, shampoo and condition as normal.

I am in no way an expert on hair ... but I have been using this product for years w/ great success.

I used to use Clairol's Natural Instincts which is what I believe is called a semi-permanent or demi-permanent hair color. It gradually washes out after 4-6 weeks. This will not leave a line of demarcation on your hair and is ammonia free. They have a large selection of colors to choose from.

I have too much gray to use that now. If you want to go the root touch up route, I highly recommend Revlon's Root Erase. It is very easy to use and there are multiple uses in one canister. It houses the colorant and activator separately. The package said it contains three applications but I find I get five or six applications out of one box.

Try coloring your hair with a blond semi-permanent. I will not remarkably change your natural brown but will color your gray blond. You might try Madison Reed.

You may just want to try the root touch up as you can just put that where you want it. I used to use Clairol but now use L'Oreal. I find that the gray right by my ears is the most stubborn to color though, so I often use one of those cover up powders! The $10 Clairol one works as good as the $30 brands to me. I will often just put a dab of that on when needed and it washes right out.
