I have found that if I change my cleanser I can fix some dry skin problems without using heavier products that will break me out.

I love Cosrx Face Wash but it can dry me out.

First Aid Beauty Face Wash is very gentle. Even cleansers that claim to be gentle or for dry skin can still make my skin dry out.

A gentle scrub might help.

Argan oil is very soothing to my skin, I would use that after a gentle scrub.

Good luck.

Maybe trying Josie Maran light argon oil twice a day used as your moisturizer. If possible I would not put anything else on my face. If the argon oil works I would the add your foundation. It is possible that something you always use is suddenly giving you problems.

When the weather starts getting cooler people tend to use warmer water when bathing and cleansing. Warm or hot water is often the cause of dry skin issues. Taking hot showers is my problem b/c I hate getting cold while bathing so I crank up the hot water and that's not good! It just dries out my skin and then I end up having to use more lotion.

Glycolic acid moisturizers/serums are very good for dry/aging skin. The GA not only helps gently dissolve dry skin flakes on the surface but it will also help plump the skin from within and help the skin stay hydrated. A 10% GA product is usually a good one to start with, for example Alpha Skin Care's 10% lotions, creams or serums.

It should be soothing on your skin with beneficial ingred's that help heal sensitive skin problems also. You can switch up to an oil cleanser. I do love JM Argan OIl & that is what got me started with argan.

I buy Ulta brand or Shea Moisture brand argan oil, now though. I use argan oil as a makeup remover before my face cleanser, so I go through a bit of it.

If my face is irritated I use it to sooth my skin.

Hope any of this helps.

I always recommend the gentleness of a soft wash cloth to remove any loose flakes. If the poster is still flaking after a year, maybe a less % is in order or alternating nights.

@Shanus

I think we talked about this before. RA's anti-aging effects happen deep within the skin. The flaking and dryness are side effects of that and are not what makes RA effective as an anti-ager. RA works beneath the skin's surface and it works there regardless of any flaking you may see on the surface meaning flaking is not necessary to get results when using RA and flaking should not be a goal either.

Perhaps this is TMI, but this is my experience.

I have not had any major menopause issues, and I'm 60 years old this year. A little night time sweats for a couple of months years ago, but other than that, nothing....yet.

However, about a year ago, my always-oily skin showed a noticeable change. Dry, flaky skin around my nose, forehead, and chin. Apparently, skin changes during menopause is one of the top changes we go through, but it gets less discussion.

Solution for me -- I exfoliate twice a week. When I finish that process, I leave my face slightly damp and apply argan oil all over my face with upwards smoothing. Putting the argan oil on while my face is damp leaves it bright and moisturized, with no oily residue or feeling. It has been remarkable for my skin! Not one flake or dryness, even over the colder months last winter.

So for me, it's exfoliate twice/week + argan oil after every regular wash, morning & night.

I have super sensitive skin with issue and allergies. I've had those tiny flakes that you are describing. Here's my list of products that I tried and worked for me. A little goes a long way so they last a long time.

Dr. Denese firming facial microdermabrashin firming cream (it's a facial wash)

Dr.ancer Polish-Sensitive

Dr.Denese --Firming Facial Wash

I found that I needed the Polish or Firming cream wash to get rid of the tiny flakes. The
Firming facila wash works but I needed an extra boost.

I use the microfiber (campenlli) facial towels to remove my eye makeup and they work fine. I read reviews that others use them over the entire face. My face reacted to that but I believe that was an allergic reaction to the fibers. (I have a ton of allergies) Those may or may not work for your needs. Check the reviews to see if someone posted that has similar skin needs that match yours. That's what I do.

Hope one of the above works for you.

The beads are round jojoba beads so they are not abrasive.

I'd double check the products you have used that may contain alpha hydroxy. Check the BB cream. I have used Josie Maran green cucumber mask along with a cream that has whipped argon oil in it.
