What a difference a brush makes

Was feeling a bit frustrated that I couldn't get my eyeshadow to look like I wanted it to. Don't remember which YTuber I was watching that was showing eyeshadow looks on older, hooded eyes that mentioned using smaller brushes - think it may have been Younique by Melissa. So started paying attention to the brushes used in the different videos and with a list I headed off to Ulta. Purchased some Morphe brushes and today used the smaller brushes to put on my makeup instead of my usual ones. Well, Oh My Gosh! What a difference! Eyeshadow looks, I think, great, went on so much easier, easier to control where I put it, etc. Definitely feel better about doing my eyeshadow now and feel good about how it looks with using the smaller brushes. Also used some of the techniques I learned and that helped too but the smaller brushes have made a big difference for me.

Also today I used some new drugstore products - eyelash primer, eyeshadow primer, and under eye peach corrector. Will review those later as I see how they wear.

EDITED: Meant to say which Morphe brushes I used in case someone wanted to know: M330 for blending; M124 for shadow on lid and outer corner; M321 for crease; M421 for lining on bottom lid.

@JudyL I agree. Having the correct brush makes all the difference. They are called makeup artists for a reason. Every artist needs good brushes.

Someone on the board (Thank you!) recommended this brush a while back and I finally ordered one and WOW! The very best for applying my mineral makeup (Everyday Minerals) I've ever used. Amazing the difference a really well designed brush makes. This surprised me it was so much better than the brush I was using. The Kabuki Brush...got mine on Amazon. Perfect!

good brushes really make a huge difference--had a really nice one for a long time until the soon-to-be-ex ----somehow---dropped in the toilet and then threw it away without me knowing----found it in the trash--asked about it and then did throw it away---what he was doing with it by the toilet--I have no idea---IDIOT!!!!!

They do make a huge difference. Not only the size depending on what you want to do but also the quality.

I ordered a small, inexpensive shadow palette and the first time I used it, I hated it because there was so much fall-out from the shadows, it was a mess. I was using brushes that had come free with something. I tried the palette again and used better brushes. I had barely any fall-out at all!

@JudyL @silkyk Thanks for the information. I have difficulty with brushes doing what I need them to do, so this information is helpful. I ordered the kabuki and several morphe brushes, altho one of the ones recommended was sold out on the morphe website.

@KLm - if you couldn't find the brush or brushes you wanted on the Morphe website, try Ulta. They have a lot of them too.

@JudyL Thanks for the suggestion. I did check Ulta, but I like the ones I purchased so I'm going to see how they do before I get anything else.

I remember a very long time ago reading articles about make up brushes and the necessity of using not only the correct brush but a quality brush as well. I have always picked up nice brushes over the years and I keep them clean .

I have many brands of brushes, including some that are at least 25 years old. I still have my favorite Maybelline e/s brush from back then. I don't like sets, it's one of those things that not every company makes every type of brush the best. I have

different brands, Bare Minerals, IT, Sigma, Sephora, Bdellium and Real Techniques from WM.

I keep my brushes in this small, zippered Relavel brush organizer from Amazon. It's sturdy, holds lots of brushes and keeps them free of dust. It's $12.99 and comes in a few colors.

@monicakm - Morphe brushes, to me, aren't expensive. Thats why I like them. Some Real Techniques or ELF brushes were more expensive than Morphe - at least the ones I saw at Ulta.

@JudyL Saying this may not make me popular here but you may also find your new brushes work better because they're made with natural hair, not synthetic fiber. Especially for eyeshadow.

Edited- Any powder makeup in fact. Glad to hear you like the new smaller brushes.
