Need good clarifying shampoo to help remove hair color

I used some temporary color gel that washes out in 5-7 shampoos. But it's way too dark and I'd like to speed up the process. Looks like a clarifying shampoo is my best bet and I've read good things about the Neutrogena and Suave ones. I just wonder if anyone has any experience in using a particular type of shampoo for this purpose and not just for removing typical residue from the hair.

I use Philosophy's Purity Made Simple cleanser when I feel I need a clarifying shampoo. It works for me.

If you really want that color gone, try "Color Oops", it's usually stocked in the same shelving areas as hair colors are in stores that sell those. If you just want to speed fading, any shampoo with sulfates ought to work about the same, "clarifying" probably won't make much difference. If you don't want to buy something special, Philosophy body washes or Purity are probably going to work well, too. Oh, if you use Tweak'd, any of their formulas with natural saponins should remove color, saponins are just soap from botanical sources, instead of artificial soaps like sodium dodecyl sulfate.

Professional tip and it works. Lather a clarifying shampoo, Suave is fine onto DRY hair, let it sit for at least 30 minutes befoe rinsing it out, repeat as many times as needed to achieve desired lighter color. You can also substitute a clarifying shampoo for a dandruff shampoo.

@soonersis Baby shampoo does a great job. I usually have it on hand anyway to wash my makeup brushes.

I agree. I use baby shampoo when I want to clarify my hair.

I also like Neutrogena shampoo, too. That's another favorite of mine.

Thank you for all of the responses so far. I just had another thought. What about Dr. Bronner's 18 in 1 Castile liquid soap? I have some of that and have used it to wash makeup brushes but have never used it as a shampoo.

@soonersis I use this clarifying shampoo and it gets the job done.. It's $8.74 at iherb.com There are different scents. I have the lemon. The more you wash your hair, the more the color will come out. There is a product that lifts the color but I don't know if you have to be a beautician to buy it at a beauty supply. Call a beauty supply store in your area and ask about it.
