Root Touch Up Powder

Is there any brand of root touch up (to cover sparse hair spots on head) that doesn't contain talc? I have checked out so many and they all have talc in their ingredient list. I prefer a powder for the couple sparse spots I have on my head.

Are you allergic to talc? Are you sure that this product even exists?

Powders have talc ..... the only other thing I can think of is a colored dry shampoo .... Batiste makes dry shampoos in several colors , blonde, brown, all sorts of shades. I've used that to spray on my roots .... but I have no idea what the ingredients are ... probably has talc.

@LuvmyLab I use Sevich brand, their Hair Line Powder between hair color appointments. It's talc free. I looked high and low for a product after talc began to make my scalp itchy, I guess I became allergic. It's quite inexpensive and works just as well as the $30. products I used previously. It comes with a small powder puff type applicator inside the cap but I prefer to use my own small brush. They also have another temporary coloring product with thickening fibers. I haven't tried that one so I don't know if it's talc free. I hope this helps!

I think I recommended this before, but I love Joan River's Great Hair Day....It's waterproof, covers roots, brows, and a few thinning spots I have at my temples when I wear my hair back. I can wear it any time since it's sweatproof, as well.

I like "Color Wow" in the Lt, Brown shade only. Dont use the dark blonde- it's way too yellow. But if you have brown hair medium tones use their brown shades. I dont know if it has talc but it has good coverage and you can build it up as you wish.

I have a drawer full. My favorite is Toppik. I am a dark brunette but use the med brown. Here is a list of the ingredients.

Keratin

Ammonium Chloride

Silica

Aqua

DMDM Hydantoin

Depending on the color of hair chosen, there are different color additives such as:

C1 15510

C1 15985

C1 17200

C1 61570

C1 45380

I just tap, tap in on my head. It is more like fibres than a powder. Do not need to brush it in.

It covers bald spots and greys the best for me. Totally fills in. Does not sweat out. I don't bother to set with hair spray. Lasts til I wash it out.

My second fav is Color Wow as mentioned and 3rd is JR Great Hair day. While this dulls the grey, it does NOT cover as well as my 1st two choices. I have very stubborn bright grey and Joan's just help diminish the appearance...but if you get too close.....

Where did you get your information about talc?

As far as I know, and according to credible sources, talc is safe to use today.

The FDA is continually monitoring potential asbestos content in cosmetic talc. They have found and recalled some products. The majority of cosmetics which contain talc are safe to use.

@SilleeMee Actually I read that on a post on these boards some time ago. Someone mentioned that talc was bad. I have done more research and found that talc isn't all that bad.

When it comes to the safety of our cosmetics then about the only credible source would be the FDA. That agency is responsible for keeping us safe from potentially harmful ingredients in our food and cosmetics. Without the FDA things would be a lot more dangerous. I trust that the agency is doing their job and that I can use cosmetics without concerns when it comes to cosmetic ingredients. If the FDA has not recalled a product I use then I can assume it's safe to use. @LuvmyLab

ETA - What it all comes down to is making a personal choice. It's really what matters the most.

Toppik or XFusion fibers, same product made by same company, just different names for marketing purposes. get it on ebay.

At one point there was a class action lawsuit that linked the use of talc in dusting powders used "down there" to ovarian cancer. I don't use powders down there so I'm not concered about talc in other products. The top of my head is about as far away as you can get from "down there".

A lot of places I think replaced talc in their products with cornstarch.

Although it has not been proven that talc causes ovarian cancer, a Minnesota court did award 22 women that had used Johnson and Johnson baby powder and got ovarian cancer a judgement of 2.1 billion dollars. In 2020 Johnson and Johnson stopped selling baby powder with talc. It now contains corn starch.

I use Batiste. it has no talc. Just rice starch. Batiste Beautiful Brunette Dry Shampoo Ingredients:
