Volumizing Shampoo

I need a new shampoo, and here are my requirements, volumizer, no extra moisturizer, and good for color treated hair. I have tried many, and some are good for awhile, but I'm curious as to what you all use. I don't use a conditioner because I hate that built up feeling. If you would like to share it would be appreciated. TIA

Hi, @QVCkitty1 ! I use Tea Tree Lemon Sage Shampoo and spray on style, even the conditioner, which I was hesitant to do with my baby fine hair but it doesn't weigh it down. Hubs loves it, too! @Katkat turned me on to this!

@QVCkitty1 Volumizing shampoos and thickening styling products sometimes contain alcohol which can be drying to hair. Since you color your hair, I'd look for a spray on type light conditioner that has some sun protection built in. There are also heat protectants that have moisturizing properties. I used one when I colored my hair, but it was several years ago. I think Bumble Bumble, Nexus and Paul Mitchell make good products and many drugstore hair products have very similar ingredients. You have to try to find sample sizes to select ones you like.

Tweak’d scalp scrub. I get nice volume and can get a few days out of a wash. Personally, I only use it a few times a month, but I believe you can use it more often. You can locate a video presentation for more info.

@QVCkitty1 I also am looking for a volume shampoo. I have products buy Aquage and they are very, very good. This shampoo helps protect your color if you color your hair. You can buy at Pandora's Beauty for $18.99. Another shampoo that may be interesting is by Monday and sold at Target. Under $10.00.

@QVCkitty1 I feel your pain! At post 60 I have a head full of very fine OILY hair! The shampoo industry seems to think every human has dry curley hair!

I wash every other day, gave up on conditioners many years ago, and haven't found anything I love! I do use L'Occitane shampoo I stocked up on that was for volume but they changed the formula not for the better.

I have great shiny hair, healthy and straight as a sting that has never needed or benefitted from conditioner.

WOW does make some styling products that work well when needed!

I have had fine hair all my life . I will soon be 58 and I have tried many products since my teens . Last year I tried the only product line that has made a difference in my hair. The Better Not Younger Volumizing Shampoo, Wake Up Call . I also use their Wake up Call conditioner and Lift Me Up Thickener . They are pricy ,but they have starter/sample kits. Sephora also sells the line ,and I think HSN does too . If you purchase from their website now they are having a 10% off spring sale . Their products are cruelty free and all but one product is vegan . Their website offers returns as well. Good luck !

Yes ! I also have silver hair . I follow a few blogs and youtube channels for woman over 50 and ones aimed at silver hair . A few had mentioned this brand . I had ordered from their website directly, and saw they had returns on products up to a third used I figured I had nothing to lose .

I was never a high dollar shampoo person. I never felt high dollar, salon products were worth the money.

Sometime in November I bought a value set of Pureology Strength Cure shampoo, conditioner and a spray leave-in protectant. I cannot believe the difference in my hair. Not only is the overall health of my hair much better but my hair seems much fuller and thicker and styles so much better.

When I was debating about what to buy for my hair because my hair was damaged from being color treated, bleached and heat styled, my stylist told me NOT to buy volumizing products because most of them are drying for the hair.

@JeanLouiseFinch I have this scrub and used almost all of it but I can't get the hang of it. It's incredibly messy and I can't make it into anything that will work. I just end up with a huge mess everytime. Any tips?

@Renata22 I don’t do anything special - apply the scrub (about 1-1.5 tsp. for my chin length hair), gently massage, add water, work into a suds, let it sit there while I do something else like shaving), rinse out. Follow up with the conditioning step.

I tried the scrub and my hair came out in a huge CLUMP! I was so shocked, I've never had that happen before. That was the first and last time I used that scrub.

BIOLAGE Volumebloom Shampoo works well for me. I've been using it for years, and now that I have a kiddo, he likes it too. It doesn't sting his eyes like Daddy's Shampoo and it only takes a tiny bit to get his whole head clean. My hair is low maintenance for which I'm fortunate, so I really just need a shampoo that gets the hair clean and doesn't make my hair require a daily shampoo. For an every other day shampoo, this product is perfect.
It could be noted too that with this shampoo I rarely even need a conditioner. I use a little of a conditioner in winter, but mostly this shampoo doesn't dry the hair out so the conditioner isn't necessary
