Heads up! GMA this morning (3/29) is doing a story on skin care - what does "organic" really mean? and is "natural" really natural?

That is interesting. People need to understand the difference. It goes the same for foods, companies that sell organic foods need to be certified to do so and it is difficult to get that certification. All "natural" really doesn't mean anything except a feel good description, just like "cage free". Best book I ever read and learned the most from on this subject is Sophia Uliano "Gorgeously Green" for anyone interested.

I have not read up on what Natural means in skincare.

I know when it comes to groceries it means absolutely nothing.

Organic has to be grown in clean soil (no pesticides) and the plant itself is free of any pesticides, etc. How can we trust that it is truly organic? Now natural is another story. I am not sure what that is suppose to mean in beauty products.

Here's my thought on organic vs. natural. And its only my assumption, I hven't done any reserch on it.

"Natural" is a product made from ingredients found growing in nature - aloe vera, cucumber extract, flower based ingredients, etc., but it is NOT grown in an "Organic" environment.

Could that be the difference?

Formaldehyde is a natural preservative and is used in foods and drinks (beer is one). It is also used in cosmetics. Formaldehyde has other names which you may not recognize if you saw it listed in the ingredients.
