Perricone skin care recently acquired for $60 million

I have been a fan of Dr. Perricone products.

Just found out that a holding company THG, The Hut Group, acquired 100% of Perricone at the end of September 2020. $60 million. A UK-based group.

The group wants to expand its portfolio to luxury skin care? There are pay walls on the recent articles, so my information is limited.

Anyone know more? @World Traveler?

Concerned, of course, for what happens to the products as Dr. Perricone and his lab are no longer a part of the new Perricone, though I assume they want to maintain quality. Perhaps Dr. Perricone had already sold his participation earlier (often happens before a major acquisition).

Does Dana stay? Limits her usual statements that state affirmative lab involvement with Dr. Perricone.

Also, wondering if the buyer will keep the contract with the Q.

L'Oreal paid $1.2 BILLION for IT.

@1Professor This is the first I have heard of this. Oh, dear me.....things don't always go well when a company is bought out. Formulas change, for one. Bummer! So sad if my beloved cold plasma products undergo a change in formula. And, of course, those wonderful serums.

It explains why we haven't seen much of Perricone the last six months. One short show with Dana.

So, I do wonder, since the part of the article I could read said they wanted to acquire high end brands, if this UK company will want to keep a partnership with the Q.

Cold plasma was, in my view, one of their innovative products that wasn't the same in any other skin care line.

And I'm a total fan of Super8 Greens, a daily ritual. Of all the powdered greens out there, this one has a better combination of ingredients, including probiotics.

This is NOT the first time he has been 'sold' or 'acquired'...it is at least the 3rd.
My BF worked at the Perricone Headquarters In Meriden, CT for 20 yrs before the last buyout by Lion Capital.. Lion closed the CT headquarters and laid off everyone. They were then running headquarters out of SF but no one was offered a transfer.

I do know Dana personally called almost every employee at the CT office to say she was sorry and wish them luck. She is/was only a leased employee for the QVC promos, paid per performance. She didn't live in CT OR work at the lab/headquarters where Dr. P used to create his product.

So grateful for your information.

Some companies I follow closely, but I regret that I know nothing about what's behind the doors of other companies, whose products I use.

It seems that the doctor has been paid for his name/face/reputation [only] for years; not working in the lab or developing products.

It does seem that this latest acquisition was a low price, considering what other skin care or cosmetics are going for when acquired. Does that, I wonder, foretell something going on behind the doors or reflect current marketing #s.

The backstage info from @RespectLife about Perricone over the years has got me thinking about products where it seems the founder/developer is still WITH the product.

You are and I both enjoy WEN and Chaz is hands on, hands in the cleanser, on the hair, sharing his joy for each new product. (I suspect he does not want to be acquired.) Tweak'd is likewise shown by Denis the developer who shares a delight in his products. Dr. Lancer, still working at his LA office with customers, showing the products he has clients use. Tatcha sold out, no longer see the owner/developer.

@1Professor I too use the Perricone's Super Greens. I got the lime this past order. Use it every day when I take my Andrew Lessman vitamins. It is a very tasty drink and I don't mind taking it at all. Some "greens" drinks are kind of blah, but I am enjoying this lime version of his (didn't mind the original either!).

I'm not going to jump to conclusions (yet) and for now assume I will be able to continue purchasing my favorite cold plasma products for the eye, face, and neck. I love all three of them. I notice immediately when I don't use them in the morning.

On a trip to Europe one summer, I went six weeks without my jars of plasma, to see how I would fare without them and to lighten the suitcase load. I was so sorry I did that.

Nothing beats cold plasma before putting anything else on the face. Was glad when I got home to be using them again. There is just something my skin needs that cold plasma takes care of. It really nourishes my skin!

@1Professor Oh, that's exciting. Right now I am stocked up (have 4) of the Sub-D on auto-delivery and have 2 of the eye, also on auto-delivery. I am almost out of the face plasma.

@1Professor Denis has sold out before when he was the Ojon man. Can't say whether he views that as a mistake or not. I also can't say whether he is the actual developer or not despite his "story". I guess I would have to look up any patents to see if he is in fact the patent holder. I do know at least Chaz is the patent holder for his hair cleansing conditioner although he got it under his real name Jeffrey Alan Deane.

@1Professor Update on the Cold Plasma Hand Therapy I purchased. I am loving it. Does leave the hands very soft and smooth feeling. The key ingredients are shea butter for moisturization and hydration, phospholipids for delivery and barrier repair, and glyclne to help improve moisture retention and visibly reduce wrinkles.

Based upon what Dana has said in the past, I always thought the Cold Plasma products were to provide nourishment, and indeed they do that for my face, eyelids, and neck/chest. The products certainly are soaked up easily into those parts of the body. But they were to be used first, before any other product.

The hand therapy does not mention to put body/moisturizing cream on the hands afterwards and technically they don't feel like they need it.

Not sure if I will continue to buy. Will wait until I get to the end of the 2-ounce tube.

@1Professor They all have enough money to be rich without selling out. It's a stressful grind operating a beauty company. The industry is harsh and filled with so many competitors. It's possible that because Chaz has the outlet of being a working hairdresser to separate his mind from the business of operating Wen that keeps him grounded. Tweak'd users can hope Denis feels some regret for abandoning his Ojon customers and will stay with Tweak'd for the long run.

The big corporate umbrella offers more money for distribution (making the brand more widely available), but far too often it results in pushing too many products out and very few living up to what made the brand popular. Worse yet, is customer favorites often change formulas because the big corporate giant will cheapen the manufacturing and use less of the so-called active ingredients for a larger profit margin per unit sold.

@World Traveler I don't do Wait Lists, generally. With skin care I want to know it's coming, sometimes those Wait List go on and on. Wonder why they made so few??
