Azelaic Acid - Would sensitive skin be able to use this?

I saw something about this in a recent magazine I was reading. It claims to do all kinds of things and says it is good for people with rosacea, which I have. I also tend to break out a bit with rosacea and have some redness. But I do have very sensitive skin. It claims you can use this with sensitive skin but have to use some care. Does anyone here have any experience with using this on sensitive skin? I appreciate your input!

@AngelPuppy1 I follow Angie at hot and flashy on You Tube and she has done some inofrmative tutorials on the different levels of acids. Azalaic Acid is one of the mildest. I have aging, fair, somewhat rosacea prone, rather sensitive skin and I can use it easily. She gave a couple product recommendations and I chose to use Paula's Choice Boost 10% Azalaic Acid. It is in a light lotion form and I put it on after a night serum (Matrixl). I really think it has improved my skin in the 5 months I have used it. I hope this helps

@AngelPuppy1, I hope someone can answer your Q. I don't have any sensitivities. But, I thought azelaic acid was on the order of lactic acid, which is more suited for sensitive skin.

@Harpa As I was doing my am routine, i realized I forgot to mention to @AngelPuppy1 that, yes - according to Angie at H & F research, Lactic is a very gentle acid also. I use the 10% by The Ordinary (started with 5% and moved up) and i have no problems - started using at the same time as the Paula's Choice mentioned above.

I've been using it for the past several months. I also have sensitive skin. When I apply it, it tingles and itches just a little bit on certain areas of my face, not all. It's weird. But I have to say, I haven't noticed much difference or change in my skin using it. I have hyperpigmentation.

Please Ladies, find products that work and stay with those. Constant switch ups and changing products, especially acids and skincare with active ingredients. You can cause normal, non-reactive skin to become red and sensitive and it's difficult to find out which skincare products caused the changes.

A simple, efective skincare routine is essential. Changing products as often as changing underwear...NO.

***YouTubers are paid to hawk products. They receive payment for each time they're mentioned/promoted. Don't believe everything you hear. How many products do they actually use when they promote a different one that's the HOLY GRAIL each week?

Azelaic acid is classified as 'skin soothing' and is the top choice of skin acids for use on rosacea and redness in general. It's not as acidic as lactic acid which makes AA more gentle.

Yes, both Azelaic and Mandelic acids are great for all skin types to use, including those with rosacea.

Hi I do you azelaic acid but not every day I have acne prone sensitive skin with large pores and redness and brown marks from old acne marks butnot rosacea. I like to keep it simple and not do too much at the same time. I use the Paula's choice one. It is very good but this one does contain salicylic acid ,which even for my oily skin care be drying. I only use at night over my moisturizer a few times a week.

No, I don't go with you-tubers who are paid to endorse products. I saw an ad for a particular brand of azelaic acid in a magazine and I had never heard of this stuff and I just started looking up acelaic acid online. I am not quick to put anything new on my skin since it is so sensitve and reactive. I wanted to get information from people here to see who had used it and how they had liked it and their experience. I have a derm. appt. coming up next month for another issue and I may wait and ask him about it before I do anything. Thanks!
