Philosophy Purity Made Simple Users~question...

Does it actually take your makeup off when you use it as they constantly promote?

Because I've used it for over a decade. I do like the product, because it doesn't dry out my skin, and feels clean. Best wash I've used on my face for non-drying.

But...try as I might, with a washcloth, scrubbing...it has NEVER taken off my eyemakeup. I always still have black all around my eyes. Even after two wash/rinses.

I would love it it did, as I'd just as soon have to use one less product...but doesn't work for me.

I just wondered if it did for any of you?

My mascara is not waterproof either.

Everytime I watch one of their presentations, where they promote the heck out of the fact that "it takes your makeup off" ...I can't help feel "they doth promote too much"...and it's just not the case.

I remove my makeup first with a cleansing wipe. Then I use Purity to wash my face. Squeaky clean & soft!!

I use a makeup wipe on my eyes, then use Purity with facial microfiber washcloth or complexion brush to finish cleansing. I don't rub hard on my face.

@amyb ...You are correct - it doesn't take my eye makeup off. When I use it, I have to put the 'Purity' on one of those make-up remover cloths. Then it works ok.

I have used Burts Bees baby shampoo to remove my eye makeup for years (over 10) have tried others but nothing beats it. Just a tiny dab with warm water and it all comes off so easy, no rubbing, if I use waterproof I let it sit on my eyes (while closed of course) for about 20 seconds and then use the warm water, it has never disappointed me. The other plus is, at almost 50, I still have great lashes, I think this method has helped, no tugging

I think the key to taking off your eye make up (and all makeup) with Purity is to use a wash cloth, like they do on tv. Since PMS does not sting your eyes, you can wiz it around your eyes and wipe with a damp cloth. Not just splashing your face with water. You need the rubbing

@amyb I fell for that line. It did not take off waterproof mascara It just flakes, Only thing that took off my mascara is Sephora waterproof makeup remover.

i'll tell you my purity story, just like everyone I saw it so many times that I finally bought the 32 ounce special because it had a pump and I thought it would last forever.

I never got used to the smell; people said it smelled like Ivory soap I was so unhappy that I spent so much money for something that I just didn't like the smell and how hard it was to rinse off. You will never believe what I used it for, cleaning my sink and tub. I just couldn't bring myself to throw away so much product. It worked good on the sink and tub.

I'm surprised. I used Purity for years and didn't have a problem with eye makeup removal. It was one of the reasons that I stuck with it so long. Once in a while I had to do a second wash for Molly's eye liner but not always.

I've used it and can attest that it take make off off, including longwear make up.

I stopped using it and switched to Cetaphil which is much more affordable.

@amyb When I used Purity many years ago, it didn't remove my eye makeup w/o too much scrubbing...not great for that delicate skin. I suggest an eye makeup remover first which defeats a "one and done" product. I also found it left my skin too squeaky clean. As I said in another post in the last few days, if skin or hair is squeaky clean, it's too clean...most likely stripped of too much natural oils. Check the bottle and unless the formula has changed, it has sulfates...quite a drying ingredient.

No this product didn't remove my make-up. I used to use this and thought it removed everything. That was until one night I decided to use a toner and was shocked at how filthy my cottonball was. I finished up what I had and moved on.

I have used Purity for years and realized something is wrong if I need to use a scrubber or washcloth to remove all makeup!!

It's obviously not getting into my pores either for deep down cleansing. There's others that do a betting job at removing everything.

Totally agree with you.

Has NEVER made a dent in my eye makeup and I don't wear waterproof anything!

It does a great job on my facial makeup. I dampen my face use my hands to apply and rotate around and then use a wash cloth.

On my eyes, I must use a liquid eye makeup remover.

Same thing for IT balm. Great on the face, but no way on my eyes. I saw goo for 2 days! LOL

Exactly, @RespectLife . Me too. Exactly same.

To all the responses..thank you~ I DO use liquid eye makeup remover, always. But that's why I was asking if I'm the only one that found that was still needed with Purity made simple.

To the one that said use a wash cloth...I've tried that...putting it on the wash cloth, gently washing my eyes...and doing it twice...still need liquid remover to remove the smeared black mascara left behind. No matter how I tried.

And to someone who said squeeky clean is not good etc...I find Purity to be gentle, and wash my face makeup off nicely, and my skin never feels stripped or dry. That is why I've used it for over a decade and still do. My only reason for posting this was to respond to all their "promoting" of the "no need for eye makeup remover, takes it all off!" I find to be misleading, as I don't believe it does that for anyone. Although...lol...they somehow do it in the presentations!

I think the models/demo girls are only wearing eye shadow...I can't see liner and DEF NOT mascara!

I could be wrong but that's what it looks like to me.
