Does anyone use Squalane Oil? I'm interested in hearing how it has benefitted your skin, or any skin problems it caused.

I received a large bottle of Squalane Oil as a gift-with-purchase. I've never used it before, and have really never even heard of it. All I know is what I've learned from Google this morning.

What are your thoughts and opinions?

Thanks

I've used it before. It's a very lightweight, thin oil which doesn't sit on top of the skin and become occlusive so whatever you put on top of it will pass through it. Since it doesn't offer much of a moisture barrier, you might still experience some dry feeling to your skin once the oil is absorbed, especially if you have dry skin to begin with. I have dry skin and for me squalane is just too lightweight to give me any benefits.

It is found in many skin care formulas. check out PTR's Oiless Oil, very good product with wonderful reviews. It is 100% Squalane.

Thanks, @Shelbelle and @SilleeMee -- I have very oily skin. One article I read said that Squalane mimics natural skin oils - I sure don't need any of that!. I also read that Squalane is applied last, after serums and moisturizers (which seems backwards to me!).

Squalane doesn't seem all that useful and necessary to me. What do others think?

@tototwo

Using a light oil, such as squalane (a dry oil), can help balance your natural oil production so your skin will not get more oily from using it and in fact the squalane might help your skin become less oily over time. Serums (and chemical sunscreens) should go on first always. Oils and/or moisturizers go on last.

You could even add a drop or two to your daily moisturizer to give it a boost.

I've been using squalane oil for about the past 10 years on my face. It's the only moisturizer I've found that doesn't break me out. I use it twice a day on clean damp skin. It's not enough on my body (I use JM Body Butters), but works well on my facial skin, which is combo, but tends to oiliness.

I buy an 8 oz. bottle once a year from Garden Of Wisdom to refill the glass dropper bottle I use it out of. I buy the large bottle during the cooler months, since I live in the desert of SE AZ, in fact, I just got my annual bottle in the mail today.
