Can someone please help me eliminate a shiny face in photography? Everything is fine on a day-to-day wear basis, but I need something -- a nice powder -- that will wipe out shine in flash photography.

I'm clueless because I do not do much makeup.

Thank you for any suggestions!

I used to use rice papers for that situation. Easier than makeup. Rice papers blot up facial oil.

I use the white one that comes out without color, but I'm quite fair. There's also a transluscent shade. *** When being photographed it's important not to wear spf or foundation w/ spf. It causes the light to cast a white "film" across your face.

When you are looking for a powder make sure to look for one described as 'no flashback'. There are many mattifying setting powders out there, loose and pressed varieties in all price ranges. Flashback means the powder makes you look ghostly when a flash is used in the photo. Look for no flashback mattifying setting powder.

Sorry I don't have any recs.

Google "Facial Oil Blotting Papers." It's been years for me. I just checked and now there are other options beside rice. Many still really low cost. Good luck!

No amount of blotting will get rid of the shine on my face. I'd have to use some kind of powder.

(Just being curious.) You're 100% right that blotting papers would not do anything in your situation.
