I wanted to get the Revlon One Step Volumizer but read so many negative reviews online. Have you tried this or any other similar one that works for you?

the big red brush-like one?

if so, recommend I stopped using a hairdryer and just use

hair needs to be at least 50% dry

@FlowerBear It's the only hair tool I use when I want a straighter look to my wavy/curly hair. The trick, I think, is to leave your hair in a turbie twist or other microfiber towel until not soaking wet. Then I apply a heat protectant and section off my hair in 4 parts with duckbill or other clips. I dry those sections on low heat. It comes out shiny, straight and with twisting the wrist at the ends, you can bend at the bottom.

For volume, be sure to hold the sections straight up away from the scalp and hold the tool close to the hairline before sliding it down that section. I think you'll enjoy the ease of not having to handle the brush and blowdryer.

I bought it but I have hair past my bra line and a slight layer nothing major and it just got tangled in my hair however, my GF has shoulder length hair and I gave it to her and she loves it, her hair is layered and it doesn't get tangled in her hair.

I've used the Revlon One Step Volumizer for years and absolutely love it! I actually like it so much that I bought another one as backup in case my original one ended up dying on me. It's the best hair styler I've ever used. The reviews on this item are awesome and well-deserved.

Im so happy to hear the postive things about this. I was afraid to buy when I read so many negative things. I tried to find where I saw the reviews but cant find it, I looked about 2 weeks ago at them. I kept reading it damaged hair. Thank you everyone.

@monicakm I've found that that issue of tangling doesn't happen if you take smaller sections. Also if you have very long hair, any curling brush/styler where your hair wraps around many times could stand the chance of getting caught.

@FlowerBear I use mine on the low heat setting.

@FlowerBear I have this and use it. Have nothing negative to say about it except IMO it seems heavy. But no issues, just section the hair and go. Love the results.

I have been using this for over 10 years now. Aquage Thickening gel spray. It's a fine mist that adds thickness to your hair which gives you some volume. I have tried overs but this is the best and lasts a long time.

I bought this when it first came out and used it for a bit and have very mixed feelings about it. If you have fine or delicate hair, I would stay far away. It does a great job, however, is very damaging to hair even at the lowest heat. I had very healthy hair when I started using this and it was a mess after (and I always used a heat protectant). I had read that it was too hot so I made sure to always use the lowest settings and it still damaged my hair. I ended up buying a Dyson Air Wrap and using those brushes instead. I liked them much better. I have now embraced my wavy hair and no longer use any heat tools.

I would think it might be ok if you have thick or coarse hair. Also, I'm not sure if maybe they've updated it since when it first came out. I know there were lots of people reporting that it damaged their hair back then.

Is this newer? I remember a number of years ago I bought a brush dryer/styler and I couldn't use it because it was huge. It was way too big in diameter for me to use on my chin length hair. I thought it was a Revlon. I also thought this same company came out with a smaller version. Maybe I'm thinking of something else.

In any event, I have read a lot of reviews that this dryer gets way, way, way too hot to the point it burns. Many said you also have to somewhat dry your hair first and then go in with this volumizer.

I have thin, fine and color treated hair so I'm afraid to try this. I am using a different Revlon dryer/styler and it really lacks power so I was looking for something else.
