I think I have one on my right eye, I am cleaning the eye twice daily, not wearing makeup these days. Might be from wearing a sleep mask

Maybe hot compresses

I ordered something called Stye from Amazon

I am post op with a total hip replacement and can not get to an eye doc

Recommendations welcome

I’ve gotten styes before and for me a hot compress really helps in addition to using a lubricating eye drop (over the counter for dry eyes).

I'm prone to styes (lucky me!). I use warm compresses several times a day. I have something from Stye that I got from Amazon. You warm it in the microwave. At my annual eye checkup recently, my Opthalmologist told me that if I had called or come to the office, they would have told me.....warm compresses several times a day. And since I'm prone to them, I should use warm compresses a couples of time a day, even without a stye.

Beyond that, it will eventually go away on its own.

Having said all that, once a couple of years ago, I had a very bad one that I hadn't been treated. I went to the office and they did have to express it and prescribed a cream to put on.

I am dealing with one right now in my lower lid on the right eye. I have been using Occusoft scrubs on it twice a day.

Soaked teabags do the trick for me, warm and quick working to get rid of them very fast.

It's the tannic acid in tea that does wonders for skin/eye/mouth issues.

My mom always had me soak with a warm tea bag several times a day.

It has been a few years since I had one but I would apply colloidal silver on a cotton ball to the area a few times a day whenever I felt a stye coming on and it would disappear quickly. Colloidal silver is a natural antibiotic.

Call your surgeons office so they can get you some antibiotics in the meantime if necessary. And, yes...warm compresses. See your primary care if nothing else.

Though it is not likely bacteria from the eye would seed to the hip prosthesis, it is possible. Just call and ask their advice if you can't get in to see your primary care provider.

@I am still oxox @OkeyDokey is correct! You could start with your surgeon's office as they may want to put you on an antibiotic as precautionary. In your current condition they realize it is difficult for you to get out right now. There is always a chance of infection spreading and you may be more at risk right now. My hubby suffers from styes several times a year and he just calls his PCP for an antibiotic as he has a heart condition and cannot allow any infection to get out of control.

Just spoke to my Retina specialist and there is no way the bacteria can penetrate my body. Compresses and Occo soft scrub

Hot compresses and massage to the eyelid. They can be nasty and take some time. The hot teabag is good so is a rice sock. Put some rice in a sock and put in the microwave to heat up.

Heard from my surgeon no need to be worried about the stye causing issues for my hip

I have had 2 very bad styes in the last 8 months. The first one appeared along with conjunctivitis and COVID last April. The first stye lasted almost one month, my upper right eyelid was very swollen and red with what eventually looked like a huge red pea sized zit on my eyelid. I was on a topical antibiotic and when that didn't work oral antibiotics. I also lost many eyelashes on that eye. The second stye on the lower lid also required a topical antibiotic, Tobradex which worked well, the stye resolved in 2 weeks. Warm compresses should be applied several times a day. I also threw away all eye makeup twice. Since having the COVID I try never to touch my eyes. I use Dr. Fishers eye care cleansing wipes in the evening and in the morning I wash my eyes with baby shampoo. I hope this was helpful.

I was going to suggest washing your eyelids daily with baby shampoo. Some people are prone to blepharitis so the shampoo keeps it at bay.

Warm compresses help, maybe an ophthalmic antibiotic ordered from your physician too.
