If you're talking about BeautyBio Glo Pro, can tell you how I use it. I use it at night immediately after cleansing. I just go over each area of my face (forehead, both cheek areas, nose and chin, jawline. I make passes in both directions (horizontal and vertical). Apply serums, creams, moisturizer of your choice/routine. I will then use the rose quartz roller to go over my entire face.

I'd do it at nighttime. The needling is much less than intese than the Dermatologist office.

From my experience :

taking aspirin or blood thinners, may cause fine bruising , so keep that in mind .

Also, I would not use any facial creams that contain alcohol afterwards to prevent skin irritation .

I've been microneedling for a decade. There are many things about it which I have learned along the way. But for now I'll mention just a few important things about it.

There are basically two reasons why people needle.

1- Exfoliation

This is where needles are used to create channels in the outermost layers of the skin. It preps the skin to promote absorption of skin care products. It also makes the skin shed the outer layers...dead skin flakes become more obvious at first then may subside over time. This kind of needling is done using a length of less than 0.5mm.

2- Collagen Induction

This is where needles are used to penetrate deeper into the skin in order to reach the part where collagen is formed. Needling at this depth is done to reduce /eliminate wrinkles, firm the skin, reduce / remove dark spots and reduce pore size. This type of needling can cause some normal pinpoint bleeding. Needles for this are at least 0.5mm long.

I won't go into the exfoliation type. That's self-explanatory and most of us know about exfoliation already.

Collagen induction using at least 0.5mm should be done on clean dry skin. Needles go deep enough to puncture blood vessels...that is normal and is partly beneficial for healing and to kick-start the collagen formation. Post-needling skin care is special for the next 24 hours. Keep your skin clean. If you experience dryness then apply a single-ingredient skin oil, such as camellia or jojoba. Those are antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. Do not apply any actives, sunscreen or makeup for the next 24 hours with the exception of vitaminC serum which can be applied 12 hours post needling. Basically you want to leave the skin alone to allow for healthy collagen formation. Introducing foreign substances (skin care products) only adds to the possibility of developing sensitivity, allergic reactions and unnecessary irritation.

It's okay to exfoliate daily or as frequently as your skin may need. However, collagen induction needs longer time between treatment sessions which means no more than once or twice monthly, depending on your skin. Over doing it can cause collagen fibers to collapse which results in dents or pitting on the surface over time...not good.

For retinol or Retin-A users...avoid using those for three days before and three days after needling. This is to avoid unnecessary irritation, for example redness, inflammation and dry flaky skin.

Otherwise a 0.5 can be used safely for all of your face, neck and dec.

Stainless is better than titanium. Stainless is pure and hypoallergenic whereas titanium needles are plated over a base metal, usually copper. Stainless is more rigid and is less apt to bend or flex like titanium. The only advantage of titanium is that it stays sharper longer than stainless and that can come with corrosion so I avoid it.

With the longer needles there can be pinpoint bleeding but that's to be expected. It's normal for that to happen, as I mentioned earlier.

Most stainless steel rollers (not the short ones but the ones used for collagen stim) need to be replaced about every 10 to 15 uses, depending on the quality. That will insure the best penetration and will help avoid microscopic tears in the skin as you might get if you used a dull device...excessive redness, inflammation and unusually more discomfort while rolling would be signs of using a dull device.

If you don't care for it, send it back. But to be honest, that tool is expensive for what you are getting. I can find quality disposable devices for much less and they do the same thing. Price range for most quality rollers is around $10 to $20 or a bit more per device, depending on where you buy them.

@Mom2Dogs

If you want to find a similar type device, look for a stainless steel, 0.25mm size with 540 needles on the roller. There are many choices on amazon for those and many cost less than $15. If you are going to use your roller often then you need to replace it about every 3 months. Clean your roller b&a each use with 70% rubbing alcohol, let air dry before using it. Store rollers in a closed container once it has dried. If you ever drop the roller on it's head, do not use it...needles will most likely be bent and not fit for use so toss it.

Hello Silleemee.. Thank you much for your great info and I took notes from your posts. I am 60 years old and luckly look a fair amount younger a very few to no wrinkles but I want it to stay that way. A few questions as I am somewhat new to this. I ordered a new 194 real needle .5mm from Gin Amber and will be trying that out. I have been using a .5mm 540 needle and for a while with glo pro in between. What is the difference between the 194 and 540?There is different opinions if the smaller amount of needles is good or larger. It would only make sense that the smaller amount of needles may work better but also hurt more. Also since you are so knowledgeable what brands do you use. Lastly, I am hoping to keep using the .5mm but eventually go to .75mm for my jaw line as my issue is the start of sagging. They say you can use the .5mm every 2 weeks. Thank you

The 540 rollers do not penetrate to the depth stated on their packaging. In other words, that number of needles tends to inhibit penetration by about a third to a quarter less penetration. For example, if you use a 1.0mm 540 then you'll get about the same penetration as a 0.75mm 194. Closer set needles tend to make it difficult to enter the skin unless you press extra hard which you don't want to do. That's just the nature of rolling with 540s. It's better to go longer when using 540s, for instance go up to a 0.75mm 540 to get 0.5mm 194 penetration.

I hope I made that clear. Please feel free to ask if you need more explanation.

@beauty0125

@tends2dogs

I've used all kinds of rollers and stamps in many different lengths and needle counts. I always buy stainless and I always replace them regularly. Good quality devices do not need to cost an arm and a leg. As long as you replace the devices regularly, then you should get the best results possible. It's when you use dull devices where you run into problems, for example, unnecessary redness, excessive flaking and inflammation. Replace your rollers (0.5mm or longer) every 12 to 15 uses.
