Confused about Tweakd

I just noticed this brand for the first time and watched a video for a hair product called Tweakd, and I'm a bit confused. By way of background, I have never used Ojon, which I take it is the former brand name, and I used Wen for a while with good effects, until I started to react to it and had to stop.

What I want is a clean, healthy scalp. What attracts me about Tweakd is first, it doesn't include detergent, and second, the video I saw said one product would replace shampoo, conditioner and treatment and a couple of other things.

But then I found there are several different products from Tweakd, in which the videos make the same claim. And I noticed that despite saying it would be the only thing you needed for your hair, there are dozens of different hair products for sale. If you only need one, why is there more than one?

I know nothing works for everyone, and there are no miracles--and of course every brand makes pretty much the same claims, right? So how to tell the difference? I guess you could say I'm skeptical, but I'm also open to learning something new.

Anybody have solid information about this brand that can help me figure out if it's worth a try, or just another too-good-to-be-true product?

I am a BIG fan of Tweak’d products. I have much better results than I ever did with WEN. I never knew of Denis or Ojon in the past. I did try a Tweak’d foam shampoo before and wasn’t crazy about it. Today there’s basically a Restore line and a Volumizing line. Some people like a traditional shampoo and conditioner while others like the creams and scrubs. I actually use all of them but you can tweak your routine according to your needs and preference. There are also mists that refresh your hair on day two or three.

Which specific products do you want to know about?

I tried when it was Ojon, and had to return the set. Honestly I've never had my hair turn stiff as straw and stick straight up as this line did to my fine hair. Usually I can just finish up a not so favorite shampoo/cond and just make the switch, but that line made my unbearable. Perhaps this new Tweaked is differently formulated, but im out. I suggest you read the low rated reviews and go from there. I remember Ojon being very heavily fragranced, if you like that.. I currently use Oribe.

@KaySD. I used Ojon for years, until I couldn't find it anymore. I've tried other brands, but, was happy when Tweak'd was introduced. I really like the shampoo and conditioner plus the thickening spray. I get better results with these products.

I really like tweaked, I didn't know how much until I just tried colista's shampoo and conditioner it's awful and made my hair like straw. A couple uses of tweaked again it feels much better.i use the scrub weekly and the cream a couple times a week.

There are some of his products you apply to DRY hair rand then get in the shower and add a little water and repeat, I tried those a while back and DID NOT like them at all.

However, his actual Shampoo and Conditioners are really good, scalp feels really nice and balanced, hair has volume yet moisturized, it's actually a really nice line. I don't use it exclusive but I would for sure recommend it. Just not the one you apply to dry hair, stick to the items they have that are actual shampoo and conditioner.

Well, I'm really not sure. I am losing more hair than I feel is normal, so my first thought was to find something to make sure my scalp is really healthy. I tried Nioxin, but didn't see much difference. I now use Bumble&Bumble Full Potential, which is nice, but I don't think detergents are very good.

I really don't want to spend a fortune on stuff that's all hype and no help. I put myself on a wait list for something called Above the Clouds Cleansing Treatment. But that was sort of random and might not be the right thing. Any advice about the two "lines" you mention?

@MeriH Thank you! I see something called a scrub, but I'm not sure which product you mean when you refer to the "cream." Do you mind clarifying?

@KaySD Yes, I have tried it and sent it back, I have hair past my bra line (until this weeken, getting about 3-4" cut off) and it just didn't work for me, I use hairspray and it didn't feel like it got it all out, my hair was tangled and felt like a coating was left on it, I tried it again on a day I did not use hairspray and got the same results, it just didn't feel clean, sorta hard to explain, not detangled either. it might work well for shorter hair but it just didn't work good for my long hair.

@Dazlin Thank you! I never heard of Oribe, either. Now I'll have to go check that out. Everything's harder when you can't go to a salon and get recommendations, and there are zillions of things on the market that all sound alike!

@KaySD Having a healthy scalp is a good goal, but I don’t think anything you apply and rinse off right away is going to make much of a difference. I would recommend the inside-out approach. Have you considered taking a collagen supplement or hair skin & nails vitamins? Having a daily 1/2-1 cup of a good bone broth supplies collagen and help hair, skin and nails grow too. Kettle & Fire is pricey, but really good and tasty. You can save a little money by doin a subscription on their website.

Have you considered taking a collagen supplement or hair skin & nails vitamins? Having a daily 1/2-1 cup of a good bone broth supplies collagen and help hair, skin and nails grow too. Kettle & Fire is pricey, but really good and tasty. You can save a little money by doin a subscription on their website.

@JeanLouiseFinch Good advice, and I do take an excellent form of collagen (1, 2 &3) plus biotin and other appropriate supplements for my hide and hooves. Bone broth is nice but I don't always have that.

I figure, I have to wash my hair anyway, so I might as well at least try to find something good. Appreciate your help!

There are so many shampoos that have no sulfates e.g., Acure offers sulfate free shampoos that perform for a lot less money. What I purchased for my scalp is a scalp scrub by Nexxus and it is wonderful. I use every 2 weeks but you probably can use weekly. It gets rid of all the build up on the scalp.

@Katcat1 Ojon was a line of products, not just one line. There was one particular product in his line that is what he often refers to. I never used that product. I got on the Ojon bandwagon late in the game and Tawaka was my product. Now, that he can use the same formula and refer to Ojon again, his Restore Rejuvenating Treatment Oil is apparently comparble to the old Ojon product. I use it as a finising product in my dry hair.

I'm particular about the ingredients in my hair products and so I have to look at the ingredients before I can buy it. Denis does use silicones and even what could techinically be considered a sulfate in some of his products. I avoid most silicones, sulfates, and PEG's which is added to a sulfate to make it water soluble. However, PEG's often have impurtities that are known to be carcinogens, so I avoid them wheras I'm not concerned at all about paraens. Considering his story about his Mom, I'm really surprised he would use those in his products.

I did not at all care for the product you put in dry hair before washing it. And, if you have hard water like me, you will not get all that lather he shows. It barely foams at all for me. I still have some from when I bought it shortly after Tweak'd was launched and use it occasionally just to use it up.

I might've been interested in the conditioner that was part of the TSV recently, but I really don't need a supersize since I haven't tried it, and I certainly don't need a supersize of the shampoo since I only shampoo once a week.

@KaySD - make sure to do you own research. Also, there is the extended return policy in play now which gives you a chance to try the products for a couple of months. Why not order and try it for yourself?

I'm very skeptical of posters that repeatedly recommend brand x or product y while bashing competitive brands/products.

Some posters dislike a popular skin, bath, body brand bc the vendors are gay and/or they have a political belief that the poster dislikes - many comments posted are not all about the product and they are not helpful to someone shopping options.

@KaySD - be careful about the recommendations for supplements, medical etc posted on the forums. It's always prudent to ask your doctor before making that kind of decision

I find many of these unsolicited supplement recommendations to be inapprorpriate and reckless given all of the variables like your personal medical situation and your current intake of supplements, prescriptions etc.

And...we have no ability to verify the source/poster. No background checks are done here - anyone can post here (compromised emotionally, medically, criminals etc). Proceed cautiously!
