I think smokey eye looks best with brown eyes. At my age, less is more so I seldom wear eye shadow. I do like to use Bobbi Brown eye shadow stick in Stone for under the lower lashes. Even though everyone is wearing a mask, I still wear my light foundation & blush and lipstick inside.

@Katcat1 I don't think a smokey eye is related to eye color as much as it is to age and the "condition" of the skin in the eye area.

Personally, I need to wear lighter shadows because I'm fair and darker shadow/liner would be too harsh with my coloring. I stay with neutral, pale grays and heather tones. Lately, I've just been tightlining and doing mascara, blush and my colored lip balm.

I'm also into the lighter colors now. This is a great video and exactly the way I do mine when I want to go full out. Most days I just use a light off white bone color and brush my blush across the crease for a brightening affect.

Good morning @ECBG . Although her shadow techniques are spot on for someone in their twenties (like her model), I find it more helpful to look for videos where the makeup artist/model are closer to your age to get an accurate placement of product.

@Shanus Totally forgot to mention that it never occurred to me to smudge the border of anything! I would just smudge the whole thing, had a whopper of a mess and quit!!!

@ECBG Thanks for posting this video I thought it really explained how to put eyeshadow on properly in a very understandable way. I am 54 and I don't think I do a very good job with the application. I just swoosh a shimmery taupe or beige across and call it a day.

I will try to do some of these techniques today and see if I can do better.

@jubilant I do the same thing with a light shadow or skin tone eye shadow primer. Then in the crease use my light bronzer instead of blush and blend.

@Shanus I like to use my bronzer, too. I started thinking about doing a lighter eye because I felt as I got older that darker colors were aging me even more. Then I watched a youtuber beauty video by "Little Poet" who also likes a lighter look and that's what finally convinced me.
