If anyone is interested in my experience regarding the microblading appt yestereday, I'd be happy answer. I wrote a long, detailed response today that took me quite a long time but unfortunatelIy it got gone. I'd really like to share or answer questions to those of you who showed interest.

I'm so happy you were able to get them done! My main concern is regarding the level of discomfort you might have experienced, and if you would do it again? I am still considering it, but...

So one of the things I wanted you all to consider is the pain level. I have a high threshold for pain. However, if you are a person who doesn't like to experience much pain, I would stay away from the type of procedure I had. She first had to do a little micoblasion and said that would be the worst of it. It only took a few minutes but it did hurt. One side hurt more than the other. Then when she began the tatoo procedure, it hurt also. But once she started she said the worst was over, and yes it was. But it was still uncomfortable but just not as much. It became more bearable as she continued. On a pain level the microdermabrasion was about 8-7 The rest of it went from 7-6. The ending being a 5. I added the chart to help explain. It was not pleasant. Also left with a headache because she did a lot of pressing on my forehead holding the skin taut. I am not young, I'm 66 so my skin tone is not great.

I can't really tell if I'm happy with the results because it will take a few days with some fading. I have another appt in August to go back for any tweaking. I asked her if it would be the same pain level and she said no. There's been no other pain or swelling or redness which she said might occur. I have to wash the areas with baby shampoo and use Aquaphor on them.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions.

Once in a blue moon while doing my daily eyebrow penciling in I consider having it done but you just talked me out of it. Hope you'll do an update in a few days. If you're quite pleased and have no regrets after a few days then you'll probably be glad you did it and feel the pain was well worth it.

@rms1954 I can't believe she didn't use numbing cream!!! I've never seen or heard of microblading being done without it. Sorry you had the pain, but hope you're happy with the results.

I didn't think about it being that painful. I would still do it if I get the opportunity.

Brows make such a difference in my look & mine are just not nice anymore & I miss them.

You mentioned it hurt. I thought they used a numbing gel throughout the procedure? Did you use it? I have ZERO tolerance for pain, one of the reason I never had children...HA! Please let me know.

Yes, they did as I responded above. They apply it at the beginning but it's just a topical thing so it's not like it can 100% numb the skin or area. If you have 0 tolerance for pain, then it's not for you. There may be another application that doesn't hurt. This was actual tatooing I believe. One of the other posters had hers done in 30 minutes so I don't know how or what they did, but this took 3 hours.

I sometimes meditate to aid with pain management, but, I don't think it will be beneficial in this situation. Although pain varies with each individual, I am going to trust my gut on this one, and look for alternative PAIN FREE methods like eyebrow stencils. Again, thank you for your review.😊

Happy to help. I wanted to be clear and honest. Don't want to cause anyone undue pain. I don't love pain but I've been through a lot of physical stuff throughout my life. I've learned to accept it I guess. I was in labor 33 hours for my first child. It was all back labor too. The doctor was a whack job. I almost lost my life. But that was a long, long time ago. Sorry for going on.

I chose this procedure but I will say it was not what I expected. My mother used to tell me "you have to pay the price to look beautiful. We'll see how it looks in a few days. I'll tell you if it was worth it. LOL

@rms1954 @Hi, thanks for the info. How do they look?? Also do they remove all your own eyebrow hair before starting? I had my lips done years ago and it hurt a lot. I was bruised and swollen and my lips scabbed and all the color came off. I have what I consider a good pain tolerance but 3 hours of pain?

Here are 4 key differences between microblading and eyebrow tattoos:

Natural-looking Outcome

Microblading creates a more natural end result compared to eyebrow tattooing, which results in brows that appear “drawn on” and flat. This is because the microblading technique creates individual hair-like strokes that are identical to hair growth pattern of the surrounding eyebrow hair. A good microblading technician can make treated areas look like a more dense version of the natural brow hair.

Pigment vs. Ink

Tattoo ink is used for eyebrow tattooing while microblading uses a specialized pigment. Ink differs greatly from pigment in the way it fades over time. As tattoo ink fades, it often develops a blue-green colored tint, especially around the edges of the tattoo. This can leave people with some oddly colored eyebrows that often look as though they were created with a Sharpie.

In contrast, microblading pigment is specifically designed to fade into a lighter version of the color used so the patient retains a natural appearance.

Semi-permanent vs. Permanent

Eyebrow tattoos are permanent. Once the ink is tattooed onto the skin it is there for life (although undesirable fading of the ink as mentioned above is possible). This is very different from microblading, where the results typically last about 6 months to a year. Simple “touch up” treatments can be done annually if the microblading patient wishes to maintain their enhanced brow. The semi-permanent nature of microblading allows patients the ability to change the appearance of their brow as trends change.

Pain

Getting a tattoo can be relatively painful, especially if they are placed in a sensitive area like the face. The microblading technique involves much less discomfort, especially if the brow area is numbed with lidocaine prior to treatment. Most patients describe the feeling of microblading to be similar to tweezing.

Two different procedures perhaps? Anyway I was also wondering if they had to shave or remove your existing eyebrows. What color is you hair, if you don't mind me asking. Also, what color did they use for the tattoo?

Micro blading has interested me. I was not aware it was so painful.

I have several tattoos which were not so bad and were done without numbing.

Guess brows are worse.

Sandy Sparkles, my thoughts exactly. It was very nice of the poster to go in such detail. I was curious about the procedure also. My eyebrows are getting a little sparse and make such a difference in my appearance. I use Cover Girl smokey taupe pencil and am pleased with the results.

They had to be completely different techniques. No she did not shave my existing brows. My hair is reddish-brown and she used auburn. I'm liking them more each day actually. But I see a couple small spots that she may have to fill in some more. I like one more than the other, but I'm ****** when it comes to things being perfectly even and matched. I know others have their own opinion, but I don't understand why the mods didn't just remove the nasty posts and leave the rest up. We were all having such a nice conversation. And as one poster stated, I was not asking for opinions

I'm having mine Nano bladed (multiple blades) done in a couple of weeks and can't wait. My DIL had them done late January and they look so natural, every hair detail is tatooed on. Expensive though, holy moly!

@rms1954 - It's ridiculous that an entire thread was taken down due to a few nasty posts. Why penalize everyone for a few posts?? I wish I would have been able to read it.

The salon I've been researching has actually discontinued microblading and does the ombré powder technique (meant to mimic eyebrow make-up) instead. Apparently the microblading fading process over time is blotchy. I'm very seriously thinking of having the ombré powder technique done!
