Wig suggestions

Due to a medical problem my hair is falling out, I have thought about purchasing a wig.

Can anyone give me a suggestion about a short hair wig that would be good for a 79 year old woman who tries to stay in style?

Very much depends on what your hair style is now if you want to match it, and what you want to spend. If you like bangs, Revlon "Scorpio" is a constant favorite. Good beginner wig, nothing fancy about the construction.

@Brigitta All I can recommend is don't be sold on real expensive wigs. I had one custom fitted for when I was going through chemo. Cost me a lot of money and ended up falling apart. (and I never wore it at home) I did better with a much less expensive version. I agree, talk to your hair stylist, she would know best what's good for you. Best wishes.

So sorry you are having to deal with this.

Most of us is in my chemo groups never found an exact solution and just waited it out.

Some got lucky actually got better hair. Hold a good thought.

I get a catalog from Paula Young and they have a lot of cute ones. I haven't ordered one so don't know how their servce is. Vorgue wigs has Raquel Welch wigs, among others and they look really nice. Best wishes to you!!

I have bought a few wigs from Paula Young . They have fast service and prompt refunds but there is always too much hair for me. I hate to spend additional money to have them styled but it is always necessary.

so sorry to hear of your hair loss, @Brigitta . due to two surgeries and extended illness last year, i also lost a lot of hair and began wearing wigs.

i agree that both toni brattin and paula young are great places to start. if you go to wigs.com and scoll down to where you can see and read customer comments/photos, it would be very helpful for you.

i am 71 and my favorite wig for every day simplicity at a reasonable cost is my perfect pixie wig by Hairdo. i always rec'd lots of compliments on her. at a higher price point would be Delaney by Envy

Get yourself a pair of thinning shears (you can get an inexpesive pair on amazon) and watch some youtube videos. Just take your time and do a little bit at a time, and you will be surprised how nice and easy it is to thin out a wig.

@Brigitta Toni Brattin and the reason I suggest her wigs is she offers two different sizes. Not all heads are the same. LOL -- but it's true and she has some really cute short wigs and other lengths too. Good luck. Sorry for your hair loss. I know what it feels like because when I was taking a certain medication my hair was falling out too but it stopped. Take care and have a great weekend.
