Returning a BWB purchase...

I purchased the Bare Mineral eye shadows and they are WAY TOO GLITTERY for me so I need to return them. Do I also need to return the gift bag with the eyeshadow/ Can't get through to customer service...

Why don't you give away the eye shadow, since the purpose of the Beauty with Benefits is to support a charity?

@bargainsgirl- I wouldn't return an item purchased for the "Beauty With Benefits" event. The money raised is for charity and they'll be losing the money, plus the product that could have been sold to someone else. (Of course, they will have to dispose of it.)

However, if you're determined to return it, yes you should return the Gift With Purchase item. After all, you're no longer purchasing anything, are you? It's unethical to keep the GWP. (Some retailers actually state on their websites that refunds will not be issued for items returned without a supplied GWP. Only fair.)

BTW, there are many of us who purchased BWB items and have never received the GWP. The items in that, from what has been posted by others, far outweigh the cost of the eye shadow you bought. Perhaps you could just gift that to someone else who might like it?

If you purchase something that comes in a set and only need to return one of the items in the set, you are required to return the whole set.

I would think that the same thing applies to any gift with purchase. After all, you are returning the original purchase, so why should you be able to keep the gift if you end up not paying for the original product?

I also think you should give the product to someone who may enjoy it. However, if you must return the eye shadow, the gift - in it's entirety - must be returned.

I wouldn't hesitate to return something normally, but since it's part of the BWB offering, I would be more reluctant since it's for such a great cause. If you don't know anyone an d you didn't use the shadows, but just saw that they were too glittery, maybe a woman's shelter would take it as part of a donation. When I donate to shelters, etc besides clothing I always throw in unused make up and other items that I think women would enjoy but may not be able to afford when going through such a difficult period in their lives.

If it was a free item with purchase than no I wouldn't return it. I got a free mascara when I bought something from Benefit at Ulta that I didn't need after all and was handling over my freebie with this item, and the girl said, no that is yours to keep---these companies donate this stuff; they can declare it on their taxes and when they get stuff back, I'm sure they toss it.

@bargainsgirl Have you tried any of the products? What I do is never try a cosmetic if I get it and think I might not like it. If it hasn't been tried by me that's the only way I will return something. And I'd return all of it.

@wagirl- That's not the same as buying something during the Beauty With Benefits event. Some people could make a purchase, knowing they plan to return it, just to get the "free with purchase" gift bag, which is more than just one free item.

The charity loses out, the vendors lose out (their generous donations are wasted) and the women who this charity helps lose out. The GWP should be returned, otherwise it appears someone is just taking advantage of this charitable event. JMHO.

@Venezia----I re read POs post and totally didn't get the BWB in it----just missed it I guess and yes, I do agree that the bag should be sent back as well but am thinking it will all get tossed anyway as who really knows or has the manpower to go thru those products one by one to make sure they are unopened. Never occurred to me to order an item and then return it just to get the bag!!! I don't do things like that and being a breast cancer survivor myself, I would never rip off such a worthy event. but once again I am sure these products given away are tax deductable for the companies.

This is a charity promotion, so act charitably. Items in the gift bag are a great deal, worth more than what you paid for the original item. This would be a great way to get free stuff, don't give people any ideas.
