How are your nails holding up

I have powder over gel nails, 90% are fine so far except the two pointers, both nails are lifting and the wear is showing. I am waiting for a nail drill from Amazon along with nail powers and a set of Perfect formula polishes.

It might be mid June before I can physically get to a salon

@I am still oxox I do wish you luck! Ever done this before? Mine are my short natural nails, but all the hand washing has really dried out the cuticles and given me "things" to pick at.

I feel for you! I was just thinking the other day about all the gals who have acrylics, gels, etc. Mine are natural now and I cut them down but I remember what it was like when they would lift and catch on everything! Hope your new equipment helps you maintain!!

I'm just letting mine grow out. I've been getting the powder, too.

About a month ago, my nail guy showed me a liquid that could be used in place of the powder, but said I'd have to remove what I had in place, that only required fills. I said no, but once he opens again ( if he does), I'll try this new product

@Shanus I've been using Wen nourishing cream and Beekman body cream and my hands are better now than before. Oh, I also use goat's milk soap for hand washing and bathing. I think all those products make a big difference plus i enjoy them

I have found that I must do my own manicures at home now. I don't have gel nails or any particular coating. Like hair, I wish I could go to a salon and soon!

Fortunate that I had my own nails and regular polish when this all hit. Easy to maintain on my own. Keeping up on my feet, too. No polish needed.

Not looking too good. I go every 2 weeks and last had them done 3 1/2 weeks ago. Last week I tried doing them myself and it looked okay at first. But now they are getting too long again and the polish is chipping.

I used to get nail wraps and have been getting powder and glue to keep the strong and great looking.

I've been going to the same manicurist for over 25 years and miss going seeing her other regulars. We would have a great time and I've become friends with some of them.

I wonder when or if we will ever be able to return. Will her shop survive?

Young Nails Inc is a nail product company, so most of their videos are geared towards nail techs. The goal is info, so there's not much mention of their actual product line in any of the videos I've watched.

Two channels by nail techs who are pro-DIY that have lots of useful info for those doing their own nails are: The Nail Hub and Nail Career Education. I enjoy both channels. But I rate The Nail Hub just slightly higher since Liz is like me...she has to know the "why." Thus her knowledge of the "science" side is a bit deeper.

Just fine.

I've always done my own nails. They grow so fast - new growth shows in just a couple of days. Complete manicure on Fridays - and touch-up on Tuesdays or early Wednesdays.

I have clear acrylic over my real nails. I've filed them shorter twice, but I can see where there is no acrylic. I was only going every 3 weeks anyway. On the news tonight they said that they are thinking about opening up some states that are going good. I hope mine is one.

Ugh mine are awful . I peeled off the gel weeks ago , nerves really . I clipped and filed . They are weak and hurt . Cuticles are a mess .

I had mine done with the shellac and today I had to take it off. My own nails and they grow fast. First I had to file the top of my nails and then I had to soak cotton balls in acetone and then set one on each nail and wrap my fingers in foil . Let them set for fifteen minutes before I could peel it off. I was glad to get that done. I will of course go back to getting them done when the shop opens up. But for now I will do my own.

Well, let's just say as good as they can be, considering I'm a month over-due for a (hard gel) fill. I bought a nail file & am keeping them filed down short. They aren't lifting yet, so I'm hoping they will last until my May 2nd nail appointment, unless our governor decides to keep us locked up after April 30th.

I was lucky to "find" a tech to do mine before the 4/3 shutdown in FL (all other salons closed 3/8 in my area). She suggested doing the "powder dip". I really like it and of course, it's only been a couple of weeks they still look great!

Now, my hair that's another issue! I feel like the shaggy dog with my bangs so long (I have short cropped cut) but I'm trying to have "willpower" and not cut them myself...oh I can only imagine flashbacks to when my mother would cut my bangs😳🙈

My toe nails are bugging me. I don't get pedi's during the winter months and I was about to get a pedi so I can't start wearing sandals again and everything shut down. So my feet are not looking very pretty!
