SACRIFICED MY NAILS TO SCIENCE

I've been spending over $22 a bottle (that were getting smaller) of Perfect Formula for many years. I wanted to give Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails another go. I used it for decades before I ever knew polish could cost more than $5. Well, the 2 week experiment is over and here are my findings:

The Perfect Formula does stay on longer...have to remove it after a week to apply another coat and dries in 10 minutes. That's good for me since I have difficulty not multitasking.

Hard As Nails looks the same, took 1/2 hr. to dry enough to pick up something w/o smearing. It also kept nails from chipping and breaking, but the polish started wearing off after 5 days.

Scientific Results: For the big difference in money, heck w/ Perfect Formula. I can do a "mini mani" every 5 days instead of every 7. Perfect Formula requires acetone remover to get all the gel off...quite drying to nails and cuticles. Sally Hansen comes off w/ acetone free remover. Just think of the savings! $22++ vs $5.99 (less when on sale or buy 1 get one 50% off).

@Shanus As an 'aside', I read today that nails should be kept very short to avoid giving the coronavirus a place to hide.

This is a great reminder! I just cut mine to even them up before I polished my natural nails. They are shorter now.

I'm so glad I don't have to go to the salon. So much time and money saved. I have a feeling that sales for at home manicures and pedicures is doing well in the past three weeks or so.

@Kachina624 Yep. Posted that on another thread. Mine are always short to keep them clean because of my line of work. Need them short and clean to do makeup and to make jewelry. Ignore how dry my hands look from constant washing (😜).

@Shanus , well that little bit of white that you have isn't visible on my nails. I do have small hands so naturally my nails are on the small side too. Glad to know that I have not lost my touch. Of course we are all on lockdown. I will have a drink with you over cyper space.

Just a note . You probably did yourself a favor. Long nails harbor bacteria no matter how often you wash yur hands . And the coronovirus can multiply under nails . Its a good thing to jkeep them short during these times
