Any other makeup questions? It's a great time to pull out your makeup, try a new technique, using some colors you forgot about, placement of shadows, etc. Also you can take this time to maybe organize, clean brushes and sharpen pencils.

Yes, I have one. I am using a very good eyelid concealer before I apply my eye m/u. Regardless of the concealer (have tried so many), my shadow oxidizes and leaves a murky, bold look at the end of the day. I use the Marvelous Mauve matte palette. Those shades work well for me. It also occurred with other eyeshadows. At the end of the day, holy moly! So very bold and unattractive on this senior beauty.

Help!

edited: I wear only soft shades and apply with a light hand.

@pommom When you say "eyelid concealer", do you mean an eyeshadow primer made specifically for smoothing lids, covering darkness/veins & keeping shadow in place longer? If you're using an undereye concealer, this is too oily for lids is the number one issue women have with shadows changing colors. If you are using an eyelid primer and this is still happening, there are a few solutions: 1. Apply the lid primer w/ a brush and try using a lighter layer and then set w/ a light matte shadow from your palette lashes to under the brow then top w/ colored shadows 2. Change brands and try different primers. 3. If you're using mauve shades of shadows (which naturally have reddish tones), any oil left on your lids will mix with the shadow causing it to change colors. 4. Back to #2....change brands of primer. Be sure you set it and let it dry before applying shadow. Let me know how any of these suggestions work out for you.

@hummermom Happy you enjoy reading my suggestions. The best tip for wearing glasses (I do, too...progressive lenses and green eyes) is to NOT ignore your eyes! Pay special attention to under eye darkness w/ concealer (corrector first rather than too much concealer). Always wear liner to define the eyes. I tightline between my lashes for a more natural look. Mascara is a must. Never ignore your brows. They should be shaped, tweezed, kept neat and filled in. Shadows should be light and natural looking. For blue/green eyes, I'd go with anything in the camel, peachy taupes, apricot shades...brown liner. Don't go nuts trying to create a defined crease. The idea is for everything you do to look natural and blended.

Thanks so much! Tight-lining is a great approach: when I used traditional liner, it seemed to make my eyes look smaller.

And using lighter colors is something I hadn't considered.

@cuddlesmama Brown eyes look good in shades of plum and violet. If you like neutrals, try ones like salmon or gold...not necessarily metallic, but gold toned taupes.

@Katcat1 If it's just a few, I'd cover them w/ a concealer if your foundation or tinted moisturizer doesn't cover it enough for you and then go ahead with your blush. The only time I hesitate with blush is if someone has really bad rosacea on their cheeks...bright red. It'd takes too much foundation to cover it completely, so after I do the makeup, I let whatever redness is showing through stand as blush.

I have a few flat clogged pores for lack of a better description. I took naps after getting home from school after losing our son in an accident. Before that I spent about 10 years suffering from another upseting issue.

@ECBG I never knew you lost a son. I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a child is devasting. I remember watching my parents trying to go through it when my brother passed away. It's not the "order" of things. Clogged pores? If they've been there for more than 6 months, most likely really packed in and hardened, if that's what they are. When this madness is over, definitely let a derm have a look see....unless you want to fly to LA and see DR. PIMPLE POPPER. 🤭

@Shanus Sweetie, life was never promised to be easy. What HE said was "I will be there when you need me.", not "I will never give you what you can't handle.". Many people have passed that down, not realizing it was a missed quote. I asked my minister about that one.

I sat on the deck in January of all seasons, a month after Christmas and felt arms around me. He was as intuitive as I am. He didn't have my experiences, but I have met several ghosts.

At the same time, a hawk started staying with me. I had him about 10 years. He used our driveway as his landing strip. I called him "Hawkley". He passed, and we have his off spring now.

Hi @Heidismom Usually we use a light shade of concealer ...lighter colors brighten the area bringing it forward. In the case of puffiness, you want that area to recede and apply not too light a shade. Use a concealer that's not too light and place it mostly below, not on, the puffiness. When the undereye is puffy, there's usually a darker shadow or dark line under that area. That's what you want to cover. Usually mixing your foundation w/ a concealer a shade lighter will be the right color to cover any darkness under the eye and also not draw attention to the puffy areas. Hope that helps.

@MarnieRez3 Thank you so much. At times like these, we do what we can to help. I love makeup and it's lighthearted and fun for most women. So, why not take a deep breath and get our minds off the news and on to ourselves?

I do volunteer work helping cancer patients do makeup. It's so fulfilling to see the smiles emerge as they see themselves without pale skin, no brows, lashes, etc. They feel like a woman again...pretty. When the scarf comes off and they put on their wig or one that's been donated, we both share a good cry...a happy moment.

If I can bring a happy moment to my friends here and allow them to forget the temporary reality we face now, I'm more than grateful to use my knowledge for a good cause.

If we could use FACETIME, I could teach Jewelry 101 tomorrow. Lol
