Cosmetics from Ebay

I just found my holy grail foundation (Chanel Lift Lumiere) on ebay - for a premium price of course because it's been discontinued. However, what has been your experience with buying makeup from ebay. I'm especially leary (Coronavirus notwithstanding) because this particular foundation is coming from Taiwan.

I am all for it, only way I can afford to buy high end cosmetics. Buy from sellers with excellent feedback. Ebay stands behind everythng so all issues get resolved quickly and you get a refund. I have been buying from ebay since 2004. Love the Bonus Bucks program and it is on all the rebate sites too. For me it is a win win situation, my go to department store. Also usually sample sizes in cosmetics to try to, I like that.

I have bought makeup on eBay for years, started with bare minerals and my lastest is the gel no tug eyeliner. eBay is the first place I go after I see something for sale on here.

The same with designer clothes I always check them out for great lower prices.

I used to buy my Dooney and Burke bags there too.

I have been on eBay since 2004 and I have never had to send anything back. I got a broken corningware dish once but they gave me a full refund.

BTW, if you like Q and HSN fashions, alwaya available on ebay for about half the price as on TV, just be sure they are brand new.

I get all of my cosmetics from eBay and Poshmark, with a sprinkling of skin care and primers and SPF from Ulta when they have one of their sales. My last bottle of Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet came from eBay and I had no problems with it. I wouldn't be too uncomfortable purchasing from a Taiwanese seller; just make sure you open and try it out right away so you can take advantage of the buyer protection program.

I always buy from eBay, and have never had a problem, including cosmetics.

I buy from reputable sellers, with good feedback. However, I do only purchase from sellers in the USA.

Fantastic deals on clothing too. I mostly buy only NWT items. (New With Tags). All sorts of brands from the Q, and many more. Just put in the right description, and 9 times out of 10 the item comes up. Good luck!

I buy from eBay all the time. I have never had a problem. I only buy from people with 100% feedback though. A couple sellers I buy from repeatedly. I always check eBay if I want something.

Not me. I'm suspicious of any cosmetic being sold on eBay or Amazon, etc. I've seen too many news stories about counterfeit makeups and colognes being sold as genuine. Do you know how old those items are? Are they long expired?

There are items I will shop for on eBay, but never cosmetics. Just me...

I have ordered cosmetics (and other things) from Ebay several times. I always look at the amount and quality of feedback, plus the comments. I haven't been burned yet. A lot of people sell their subscription box items on there, which has scored me some great stuff for cheap. It also helps to know what your product is like -- consistency, package quality, etc. Expiration dates are right there, and most sellers will tell you if the date is coming up.

Thanks, everyone! I may just get this one and use it sparingly. The foundation has been discontinued for aboout a year, but I think it was stil sold in Europe and Asia until recently. I don't think it would be expired, but closer to it than if it was purchased fresh from Nordstroms or Macy's. I've spent a small fortune on all kinds of foundations that just can't compare to this one for me.

The SA at the Chanel counter yesterday said so many people ask for that foundation and she doesn't understant why it was discontinued. I had been using IT Confidence in a Compact and that too has been discontinued..

Not to change up this thread, but does anyone use Armani foundation?

@Sammijo10 I guess you know I'm suspicious of any skincare/makeup that's not purchased from its usual site, store, etc. Besides being a dupe, it can be contaminated or old even though the date stamped is OK. There are ways, illegal, to erase the original date and duplicate a new one. It's big business now. Since you're paying a high price on EBay anyway, I'd find a new foundation from a reputable source. Many times the discontinued ones you love are reformulated, given a slightly different name, but the foundation is just as good is not better. Get a sample and try it.

***Definitely don't purchase ANYTHING from areas where folks are dying by the thousands!

Thats how I try out new products----buy samples from ebay instead of paying so much to return if I hate them. No problems at all either ---- not sure what the coronavirus has to do with anything?????? I NEVER buy anything out of this country anyway and especially from China or Taiwan---things may be made there but are shipped from the US.

This is just me but I will not buy cosmetics, skincare, haircare or bath/body products from e-bay. It has nothing to do with the Coronavirus. It has to do with the fact that I have no idea if the products are real, fresh, been contaminated in some way, used just a little bit, etc.

If the cost of these types of items would be cost prohibitive, I don't try them in the first place to get hooked on them. If something is discontinued that I use, I move on to something else.
