Josie Maran Argan Oil Issues!!!

I am not sure what is going on with Josie Maran products but they smell rancid. I have been buying and a loyal customer for years with no issues but recently bought super size pure argan and also separate recent milk tsv and both smelled rancid. I am not sure what is going on but QVC still selling product to consumers as if nothing is wrong.i My guess - either selling old product that is turning or changed process to sell as "clean" product. I also wrote a review stating same thing and guess what - it was never posted!. QVC apperas to only be posting some bad reviews so rating is not as bad as it should be.....stop selling this product until issue is fixed!

Did you send it back? There should be no charge if a product is defective. When enough people send them back, they will correct the problem.

I also never had a problem with her oils smelling rancid, I even just finished my big bottle from last year and it never smelled bad at all. i just opened up a new bottle i purchased last month, brand new and it smells rancid. Not sure why the change , I do hope they fix it.

I'm willing to bet that the extremely hot weather which occurred during last summer, or even before that, affected some shipments and storage facilities where the oil was placed. The heat has a negative effect on natural oils.

That's a big reason I stopped purchasing her oils and other products....except the mascara. I get the same oil (all natural, no additives) from WholeFoods or Trader Joe's.

OMG, I've had the same problem. I sent back a large bottle of the Argan Oil because it smelled rancid. QVC replaced it free of charge and I just recieved the replacement in the mail and it smells rancid as well! I'm really upset about it. I love this product and $100 is alot of money to spend on something that I put on my face every night that smells awful. I think I'm going to have to return this bottle as well. I'm super bummed, I loved having the option to buy Josie Maran from QVC, but now I feel like I can't trust the product.

My Argan Reserve Serum has a real strong “nutty” smell. Josie has addressed this several times during the presentation of the serum. Also my Argan Skin Dope serum has a real nutty smell. It’s the leaves and nuts they used. If not familiar with this type of smell it would come off to a rancid smell.

I also never had this issue. I use the Reserve Oil every night. It does have an Earty smell. I actually like it.

@DebNYC31 I have been using JM Argan Oil for years with no problems. I ordered the oil from Sephora's VIB sale & it also was rancid. I did return it in store & got a good one. I must say that quite a few ladies have had the same problem & returned as I was told by the SA. They must have been stored improperly & or older oils they went rancid. So its not just QVC.

@DebNYC31 Have you contacted Josie on her website? I would definitely send an email on her website. That kind of remark could hurt her business and no one wants to do that. The bad product should be removed from the shelves and not sold.

@Shanus I started using Tarte's Maracuja oil. I was impressed with the benefits. It also has a distinct scent (nutty) so you know how it should smell.

@Katcat1 Yes, I've used Tarte's too. It's a really good oil. Maracuja and Marula are richer and always switch over in winter. Happy Holidays!!

We really don't know what we are getting in our beauty products sometimes.They remove one chemical that's exposed as being "bad", then replace it with another, later to be discovered as "bad". Thank goodness there are still some reputable companies out there. As time goes on, I wonder...🤞

I have used Josie's products since 2017 when I first discovered them on QVC. Since then, I have also ordered directly through her website. In all these years, only twice have I received product (The Argan oil with dropper), that has a pungent, rancid smell, much like olives or even manure. I addressed this in 2019 by calling the customer service line with Josie Maran, and there was no explanation given as to why it was like this, but they promptly accepted my return.

Recently, in April 2020, during the CoVID19 pandemic, I ordered directly from Josie again and received the Argan oil AGAIN with this funky smell! Other products like the whipped face butter, and Argan eye milk do not have this smell. I was going to return it again, but due to the whole social distancing thing, I do not want to leave my house to go to the post office. No one at the company has responded to my questions on the josiemaran website re: why it smells like this.

Is this spoiled?

Help!~ I truly love her products but this smell is so gross I cannot use it. And this product is NOT cheap!

@KellyKelly I got the Q's TSV with the JM supersize pumped bottle face milk, vanilla pear body butter & VP body milk. The face milk smelled off, not completely rancid. I was not able to return it because I would have to return all 3 products. I was waiting for the Vanilla Pear scent for a long time so I kept it & dumped the Face Milk. I never had a problem with the small dropper bottle. I am on a facebook page called Josie Maran Real Talk & many are disapointed with the face milk being rancid. Around the same time I ordered the Argan oil from Sephora & it was rancid. I was able to return it to the store at the time & replaced it with a good one. I have been using her products for years with no problems until recently.

@KellyKelly - You can schedule for usps to pick up your return at your doorstep. Go to usps.com and schedule it. The mail person will pick it up when your mail is delivered each day.

I use to use Josie's argan oil, but changed to Lancer. No smell and much easier to absorb.
